A 20 meter wide meteorite, it was brighter than the Sun when it entered our atmosphere and exploded into fragments over Chelyabinsk Oblask in Russia about 18 miles high in the sky. Based on its rtrajectory when it arrived in our atmosphere, it is believe this meteero originated in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. Classified as an LL Chondrite, it is a stony meteorite with low iron and metal content.
