Woodstock Four Seasons Windchime

A colorful, cloisonne-style windcatcher has 4 icons, one for each season.

This chime is tuned to the final chord from the 2nd movement of Concerto #3 (Autumn) of Antonio Vivaldi's The Four Seasons. This series of concertos written for violin, strings and basso continuo was first published in 1725. This popular piece has been used in many movies and is a popular wedding processional. One of Vivaldi's best known works, The Four Seasons is one of the most well known examples of music from the Baroque period. Vivaldi wrote individual sonnets to go with each of the four concertos, with each sonnet consisting of three parts that match the fast - slow - fast of the three concerto's movements.

Here's part of the sonnet for Autumn:

Celebrates the peasant, with songs and dances,
The pleasure of a bountiful harvest.
Everyone is made to forget their cares and to sing and dance
By the air which is tempered with pleasure
And by the season that invites so many, many
Out of their sweetest slumber to fine enjoyment.

Dimensions: 19.5" Overall Length
