The reason it is unique is because of the pillow shape. Most winders have one size pillow and if you have a large wrist the diameter of the pillow is usually two small. You must wedge something in between the band and the pillow to stop the watch from flopping around.
With the unique pillow shape here you can put smaller size bands on one way and larger size bands on the other way, and your watch is snug.

Power cord that plugs into the back of the winder is too lose. I have to check it constently due to it falling out. It has nothing to do with the cord being too short or extended too far from the wall outlet. I'm trying to come up with a remedy to secure the cord to the winder.

My husband had a "watch winder" before. It broke down, since it was used every day. I think the quality just wasn't there. The Brookstone watch winder is great. It looks good sitting out on the dresser. He obviously uses it every night. So far, we've been extremely pleased with the way it is operating. It cost more than the other, but I think it will be worth it.
