This is my 3rd tempur-pedic pillow. The first to were soft to the touch but when trying to sleep on them, they were to firm. my 3rd one, the Xtra soft traditional is the best of the three! When it came in the mail it felt litter then what I expected but when I sleep on it I was amazed. It was soft but yet very supportive. Three words.... Buy It Now!

USUALLY HAVE TO USE 2 PILLOWS FOR SUPPORT BUT FIND THIS ONE, RATHER SMALL, PILLOW WORKS WELL. HAVE NOT HAD A STIFF NECK SINCE USING THIS PILLOW AND SEEMS I HAVE EVEN BEEN SLEEPING BETTER.

Believe this pillow offers good support. I'm a side sleeper and I believe it keeps my head in line with my body rather than tilt too much either direction. I thought I'd sink in a little more than I do, though. When I'm on my back, my head feels a bit too high, but hasn't been a problem either way. My neck feels better for getting this pillow.

I bought a total of six pillows; two X-Soft for my parents, plus two X-Soft and two regular soft for my brand new memory foam bed. My parents, boyfriend and I prefer the X-soft because it seems to compress better while the regular soft is better for those who prefer greater, firmer support (keeps your head and shoulders up higher). I tend to use the regular soft for sitting up to read and the extra soft for sleeping. To shorten the "break-in period," something characteristic to all memory foam products, we unzipped the Tempurpedic case and put that inside our own pillow cases and that somehow seemed to allow them to compress better.
I'm giving four stars because they're the best memory foam pillows we've tried, yet we've had minor issues with firmness and too high a profile in the regular soft pillows. All in all, definitely a good buy.

I have only used the pillows for 3 weeks, so I am still getting used to them. For right now, I can say that I have gotten 21 days of great sleep! I would definitely recommend to my family and friends.

I had a Tempur-Pedic neck pillow, but I found that it was not conducive for any sleep position other than on your back.
I then changed to a foam pillow that had a more traditional shape. Unfortunately, it was a cheaper open-cell type foam, so it didn't offer much support.
I finally bit the bullet and shelled out for the Tempur-Pedic traditional pillow. It's been pretty good so far - it's comfortable as I'm falling asleep, and I don't wake up with random neck and upper back twinges.
The one drawback is that when buying online, you don't get a good sense of X-soft vs. Soft vs. Medium. I just bought the average (soft) version, and I'm pretty happy with it, but I'd recommend that you go to a store first to compare them first-hand.

Overall a pretty good pillow, the X-Soft is MUCH softer than the regular soft. However, it loses its shape pretty quickly so I do not think it is worth it's expensive [$] price
