Even low gusts blow this thing inside out. I will not be purchasing another despite its ease of opening and closing. Today the handle snapped right off on a gust that was less that 20mph according to weather sources at the time.

This umbrella is nice and large when open, yet easily fits into a large purse or shopping bag, so its great for portability. That's where the pros end, though. Four of the pins that hold together the umbrella have broken, though I've managed to fix it with paper clips. The umbrella inverts at the slightest breeze and I have a really hard time closing it. Its not that the close button doesn't work, just that after it collapses, telescoping the umbrella back to its original position is not as easy as it should be. I would never recommend this umbrella to anyone.

Big enough to almost cover two people, but great for one person, even in heavy rains. Durable, got me through heavy rainstorm in China. But it's heavy, notably heavier than the smaller model.

I have 3 "Brookstone Super Size Umbrella", my most recent one is this current model, while the other 2 are of the previous model.

I kept two at all time, so when my first one broke, I bought my 3rd.

simply put, this is a MUCH better umbrella than the original one.
1. it is noticeably lighter.
2. it is noticeably more compact (narrower body when closed)
3. The joints are noticeably stronger (just choke it when open, it is more sturdy)
4. Better leak protection (it still has an occasional drip or two, but its hardly noticeable)
5. Really the best "men" umbrella under $100 bucks

Really Picky CONS:
1. I now have rust on the corners of the joint which stained the cloth (easily wiped off)
2. I wish when I click "Close" it will close entirely instead of having to manually pull the extender back (but for safety it's ok and I have not seen any other that will do that)
3. This umbrella is a little short, it would be perfect if the extension is 2-3" longer)
4. I wish the Belt that ties the umbrella when close is re-positioned, as currently it is placed directly on the leaf immediately above the open/close button. By default I would have the open/close button faces me when I'm using the umbrella, causing water drip from the belt to be right behind my shoulder/back.
5. More color option would be nice

My 1st original Brookstone Super Size snapped (at the tip of the handle) after 3 to 4 years of use
My 2nd one now have 3 joints falling loose (still usable, but I'm now shopping for my fourth)
Thus led me to leaving my comments here today, I was hoping that Brookstone will have a new one by now.
But needless to say I will be a happy customer to buy this one again

I was using the umbrella to keep dry while removing snow from my car during a northeaster when a tree branch broke and came down upon me. The umbrella, though destroyed, deflected the branch enough that I received a glancing blow on my forehead rather than it hitting me directly. Though somewhat bloodied, I thank the strength of the umbrella for preventing a more serious hit

This is by far the best umbrella I have ever owned. A little pricey, but well worth it knowing you will never have to deal with 'problem' umbrellas ever again! My husband and I have owned ours for over 2 years and love them - they never fail to open, are easy to use when getting in/out of the car, and provide great coverage. They are a little bigger, but what good does a compact umbrella do anyways?
