California Transparency in Supply Chain Act of 2010
The California Transparency in Supply Chain Act requires companies to disclose what they are doing to address human trafficking and slavery in their supply chains. Brookstone expects its vendors, licensees, and any third party working on their behalf to comply with any and all applicable international, national and local laws and regulations pertaining to their employment practices and policies. No vendor, licensee, or any third party working on Brookstone's behalf should use “forced” or “child” labor. Brookstone requires all of their suppliers to annually certify compliance with their Regulatory and Social Compliance Terms of Engagement which specifically prohibit human trafficking, child and forced labor. In addition each vendor agrees to submit to periodic audits (announced or unannounced) conducted by Brookstone or its agent in order to monitor and access compliance. Brookstone will not conduct business with Suppliers who do not provide such certifications and failure of suppliers to abide by such Terms of Engagement can result in corrective action up to and including termination of all existing and future business. Failure of employees to abide by Brookstone's policies and procedures can result in corrective action up to and including termination of employment. Brookstone believes in providing annual training on responsible sourcing, social compliance management practices and related topics to employees and management with direct responsibility for supply chain management.
Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism
The Customs -Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) is a voluntary United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) business initiative designed to build cooperative relationships that strengthen overall supply chain and border security. Brookstone Stores, Inc. is a certified C-TPAT partner and is working with CBP to ensure the integrity of its security practices and communicate its security guidelines to its business partners within the supply chain.
