SUMMARY:

Reporting to the President & Chief Executive Officer, this position provides strategic and tactical planning, development, evaluation, implementation and coordination of the information and technology systems for Brookstone.

Responsible for the developing the information technology (IT) vision for the company. Management and Performance of the IT Department

Store Support – Malls and Airports
Responsible for management of the store WAN, WiFi, Registers, card readers, scanners, and all related POS equipment, Responsible for security compliance for all items attached to the store WAN. Security includes PCI compliance and standard retail data security governance to protect customer data. First line of contact for help desk technical related store requests.

e-Commerce
Responsible for software development, up time, and security of the eCommerce Brookstone sites. This includes inventory, pricing, and sales feeds for all eCommerce related integrations to Brookstone core systems as well as sustained performance, planning, and future growth.

  • Catalog support: Work with the Brookstone Assistant Marketing Manager as a backup for the catalog drivers’ circulation preparation. Will perform merge/purge QC, list pulls, and promotion management. Pull ad-hoc reports and perform analyses in support of the Assistant Marketing Manager.
  • Email File Health: Perform analysis of the email customer list to determine growth, attrition, response, and valuable segments of our house list. Analyze opt-out survey for trends. Support efforts to grow the list and onboard new members.

Job: Product Design Engineer

Responsible for surface development, preliminary part and assembly engineering of a specified range of Brookstone Laboratory projects of various mixes of materials and overall part complexity. RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Supports all phases of product development including 3D surface development and documentation activities within the Brookstone Lab team. Activities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist in developing the specific project criteria and product design goals.
  • Set and maintain project schedules, enforce project-to-project priorities set by management.
  • Develop solutions that fit both cost goals for the product as well as fit within the selected manufacturer’s core competencies.
  • Proactively partner with Industrial Design, internal and vendor Mechanical Engineering teams to assure that design intent and product performance goals are delivered through to production.
  • Maintain ‘resident expertise’ of new materials and manufacturing processes to help guide the development of achievable and cost-appropriate design concepts.
  • Actively champion a high level build quality that minimizes or eliminates entirely down stream effort and changes required by all vendors in the relationship.
  • Actively champion the failure analysis of all level – 3 & 4 BLab projects with both internal and external QA teams.
  • Maintain a proactive and engaged presence throughout the duration of the design and post-design release phases of a project.
  • Develop and maintain a professional rapport and time-sensitive dialog with internal/external project managers and manufacturing partners.
REQUIREMENTS:

Job: Assistant Marketing Manager

The Marketing Manager will be responsible for the success of our email marketing program as well as the implementation of our B-to-C catalog mailings. They will plan, launch, and report on all email marketing campaigns. They will also manage the catalog mailing preparation process from start to finish. RESPONSIBILITIES: Email Sales: Drive sales through email marketing. A/B test new features and backtest current methods. Optimize our automated trigger email program. Manage the relationship between Brookstone and our Email Service Provider and manage initial contract negotiation as needed. Manage the email expense budget. Run constant competitive analysis.

Catalog Mailing Preparation: Manage merge/purge process for catalog mailings to ensure timely in-home delivery. Work with outside list and mail processing vendors and analytics team to meet deadlines and troubleshoot and report variances. Make final selects out of merge and communicate printing instructions to the printer.

Email Address Acquisition and Retention: Grow the email file with responsive, profitable new email signups. Work with the store operations team to capture emails in stores, and work with website team to capture emails in various areas on the site. Monitor and report on file size and opt out survey. Find new ways to add value to the email subscriber to keep our customers from opting out.

REQUIREMENTS:

Essential:
  • 4 year college degree or equivalent.
  • 5 years of experience in email marketing.
  • Catalog mail preparation experience.
  • Strong computer skills are required; proficiency with MS Word and Excel is a must.

SUMMARY:

The Design Manager oversees "5 - Star" Products Design. The Design Manager plays a critical role by ensuring cohesive brand language, as well as developing our industrial design team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Industrial Design:
  • Assist in developing specific project criteria and industrial design goals.
  • Set and maintain project schedules, enforce project-to-project priorities set by management.
  • Develop industrial design concepts that maximize utility, usability and desire amongst Brookstone’s target customers.
  • Develop solutions that achieve cost goals for the product as well as fit within the selected manufacturer’s capabilities.
  • Able to understand and find the balance between the rational aspects (features, ergonomics, manufacturability) and the emotional aspects (desirability, communicative qualities, lifestyle fit, etc.) of a successful product.
  • Provide and communicate, when required, a supporting case for a design direction or detail choices.
  • Proactively partner with Product Design, internal and external vendor Engineering teams to realize design intent through production.
  • Partner with internal graphic design resources to develop final on-product graphics and corporate identity.
  • Maintain a high level of understanding of materials and manufacturing processes to guide the development of achievable and cost-appropriate design concepts.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate level 3D CAD and other software skills to effectively communicate with the entire product development team.
  • Maintain a proactive and engaged presence through - out the duration of the design and post-design release phases of a project.
  • Develop and maintain a professional rapport and time-sensitive dialog with AC/ACC project managers and manufacturing partners.
  • Actively maintain an overall project-to-project schedule for themselves and the projects under their management to understand typical project and task durations and to be able to forecast their personal workload and availability into the future.
Design Oversight:
  • Lead, direct, and train the Junior Designers and interns
  • Indirect responsible for all product design
  • Ensure a collaborative, creative design environment
Trend:
  • Directly responsible for researching color, style and fashion
  • Clearly communicate and lead design trends including soft good design
  • Oversee the creative vision of the Brookstone design language


REQUIREMENTS:

Essential:
  • A bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design - Fine Art’s along with a minimum of 6 years work experience in a consumer product development environment.
  • Demonstrable ability to identify and capture critical communication points for a given product, as well as achieve emotionally and rationally balanced design solutions that Brookstone customers will respond to.
  • Hands-on experience in all phases of product development, knowledge of various materials, exposure to a variety of manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Expert knowledge of Solidworks surfacing, Adobe CS6.

The Brookstone Innovation team is responsible for working with external inventors and companies to uncover great products and technologies of potentially high value to Brookstone.

The Innovation Manager is a key member of the Brookstone Innovation team and is responsible for helping to evolve strategic accounts into a robust and profitable pipeline of products selected for Brookstone and Brookstone Launch services sold to inventors.

A day in the life of our team includes:
  • Working with strategic partners to identify inventor prospects and to build and manage a robust pipeline;
  • Building relationships with incubators and inventors to understand how their technology can provide value to Brookstone and whether our services can add value to them;
  • Preparing, underwriting and presenting proposals for Brookstone Launch services whereby we provide product services to inventors bringing their products to market;
  • Transition winning proposals into the B-Lab for execution;
  • Mapping trends and determining which may be relevant and creating a plan that turns trends into products over time.
  • Working with merchant team members to understand and influence product direction and gaps to address;
  • Day to day executing the patent portfolio licensing strategy
  • Evaluating ideas and products that are within the Brookstone Launch platform.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Account development through building a pipeline of inventor ideas with our existing strategic crowdfunding and incubator partnerships
  • Proposal development for Brookstone Launch services, including getting buy in from internal partners within Merchandising, Finance, Wholesale and Legal
  • Researching technology trends and creating actionable insights
  • Developing relationships with inventors, university researchers and startups for the purposes of identifying technologies and products for Brookstone and Sanpower
  • Partnering with the Merchandising organization to ensure the pipeline of innovation moves efficiently throughout the organization
REQUIREMENTS:

Essential
  • 4 year Technology related degree and a high level of technology acumen
  • At least 8 years of work experience in a Fortune 500 company (e.g. a company with structure, matrix organization)

Additional responsibilities include:
  • Primarily responsible for drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide variety of contracts, including vendor agreements, IT contracts, wholesale agreements, supply agreements, licensing agreements, e-commerce agreements and joint ventures.
  • Providing legal advice on a variety of other topics that may include customs regulations, CTPAT, product safety, advertising, store operations, internet security, environmental regulations, customs regulations and other areas of law affecting retailers generally.
  • Provide guidance to product development, merchandising, advertising and store operations teams regarding compliance in their respective areas.
  • Corporate governance matters, including drafting board and shareholder resolutions and joint venture operating agreements for various Brookstone subsidiaries.
  • Assisting the General Counsel and the Company with various other legal issues 10% and projects as they arise.
REQUIREMENTS:

Essential
  • B.A. or B.S. and J.D. degrees from accredited institutions.
  • 5-7 years of experience as a lawyer, preferably with some law firm and in-house experience
  • The lawyer need not have broad experience in every category listed above, but must be willing to learn these areas as applicable.
  • Very strong writing and draftsmanship skills are required.
  • Strong communications skills are a must.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment with a practical approach to addressing compliance related issues and legal concerns.

Store Sales Manager
  • Responsible for managing one store.
  • Innovatively manages the Store by driving sales performance and controlling expenses.
