We have used them for years,we walked every day rain,shine, ice or snow they have help us walk on icy New England fields/trails with our dog, without any mishaps on hard ice. The ankle strap needs to be adjusted to the boot/shoe and can slip but overall it is the best ice gripper we have found

Used these when I was a bobsledder on icy tracks and snowy/icy mountains (paved and gravel). They are great so we bought some for our parents for their outdoor recreation. They are expensive but very sturdy and the cleats are replaceable (although I haven't had to do that yet).
