I bought a home with Sonos sound bar. I have added a play 5, a sub, and two play 3's. Unbelievable sound quality! This is addictive! I have been taking my Play 5 out of the kitchen to my patio in the evenings. I now have that permanently in my kitchen a paly 3 upstairs, a play 3 in my Master Bedroom and have ordered a play 3 for outside patio. I have owned Bose and Harmin Kardin systems. Both are good quality Sonos is better!

Within 30 seconds of hearing the Sonos, my wife wanted to give it a 5. It sounds great in our bathroom and puts out plenty of sound to hear it while showering. Within a day or two of using the interface, she wanted to give Sonos a 2, but I talked her into a 3 because it sounds so good. What makes the interface more annoying is that according to the forums the interface actually got worse in the most recent update and took away features.

What's great: the sound that comes out of this little speaker is enough to fill a room. There are many choices of music source including music on the local network in iTunes, Pandora and Stitcher. We use the alarms every day and wake up to music that can shut itself off automatically.

What's not great: there is no way (as far as I can tell) to stop music from the unit itself. When we're done we have to pick up an iDevice or go to the computer, open the app, find the stop button, and press stop. There's a mute on the unit but as far as I can tell it will continue to stream music and use bandwidth while muted. Since Sonos can't e-mail me an extra physical button it would be nice if they would upgrade the firmware to make some way to stop music such as double pressing the mute or pressing mute and vol down at the same time or something.

Finding music to play can be quite frustrating and is why we rate it so much lower than the sound deserves. Apparently there used to be a favorites button or section accessible from the main menu that was taken away in the software update that occurred right before I bought my unit. To play a favorite internet radio station requires too many steps. I have to find the app on my phone, because obviously the Sonos app is not always the first thing you have on your phone's home screen. Then I have to press Music, Radio, Favorites, Radio Stations, and then the station name. After 5 presses, it then asks me to confirm that I want to play the station, as if the world might end if I accidentally played Tom-FM when I was looking for K-LOVE. I would love to see 5 buttons labeled 1-5 that instantly switch to a configured radio station/pandora station/local playlist as soon as I press the button. No need to worry about naming the buttons as we've been memorizing our favorite stations since before we could drive. If you accidentally press the wrong favorite button, you're only 1 click away from correcting the mistake instead of 6. I realize there's a lot of sarcasm in there but it can be that annoying.

iTunes/network integration could stand to be smoother. There's no option to update music in the background or just look for new playlists. If you add a new song or playlist you want to hear from the Sonos, you have to choose the all-or-nothing full network update that can take nearly 10 minutes to complete. That's a lot of grinding time when the only change you made was to add one new song to the library. Since the music database is available across all devices, it must be stored on the Sonos itself. Therefore, it should be able to spend those 10 minutes while you're sleeping or otherwise not trying to use the unit.

All-in-all we are happy enough with the unit when we're not thinking about the interface. Being able to stream music so loud you can sing along with your head under the shower nozzle while maintaining good quality is quite a feat. I just wish it weren't so frustrating to make it happen. The good news is all of our gripes are software fixable so there's hope the Sonos team will come through in a future release.

Comments about Sonos® PLAY:3 All-in-1 Wireless Digital Music System:

i wanted my music to be heard throughout my apartment. i didn't realize how seamless it would be to listen to all of my music that i listen stored in various locations. that is the biggest plus for me...i can create playlists or just add music to the queue from every source. the sound is great for me, but i've also been listening to music through computer and ipad speakers for 3 years now. the set up was the easiest i've seen in tech products in a while...both apps on the mac and ipad are extremely easy to use. granted this is only day one of use, but i don't have any complaints about my purchase.

Comments about Sonos® PLAY:3 All-in-1 Wireless Digital Music System:

I use the Sonos3 as our main music player in the home.
We mostly listen to pop and rock music and solo instruments (classical). -
The Sonos is not unfortunately not suited for playing symphonic music or classical music with more than a few instruments. - The sound becomes muffled, and distinct instrument sounds are lost making it a noisy experience that does no justice to the work being played.

I stayed with a friend who had Sonos, and was so impressed I bought my own.
One problem (and I found a solution) that was not mentioned. Certain older purchased songs from itunes cannot be played on Sonos (itunes fault, not Sonos) as they are protected. The solution was to purchase itunes match (cost = 25 USD per year, but just one year subscription will solve the problem), although there was a bit of time involved in updating my relevant music

Comments about Sonos® PLAY:3 All-in-1 Wireless Digital Music System:

It's hard to believe how amazing the sound is that comes out of this. I'm not an audiophile, so maybe I'm "missing" something from a wired set up. That being said, from my perspective I went from having nothing to having awesome sound in less than 5 minutes.

My family and I love listening to Pandora on this or the MLB App to catch some baseball.

Comments about Sonos® PLAY:3 All-in-1 Wireless Digital Music System:

I was looking at investing in whole-home audio systems and the SONOS system came heavily recommended at my local audio store. I purchased 2 Play:3 speakers and a Playbar. I could not be happier with them.

The software is extremely easy to use. I have a controller installed on my phone and my laptop and it is nearly seamless to transition between the two. I have yet to hear ANY audio hiccup (which is very surprising for a wireless speak setup.) The options for streaming music are impressive. Things simply work... which is a rarity in technology.

I am already planning my next SONOS purchase to add audio to more rooms in my house.

Love these speakers as a set with my Sonos sound bar and sub. Provides great 5.1 surround sound and nice ambience for music. Sometimes switch to full on mode when listening to music at higher volumes - very impressive in either mode! I found a significant difference between the Play 3 and Play 5 when purchasing my living room speaker, but then I didn't expect the 3 to sound as good as the 5.
