Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
A friend of mine recommended the Bose QC2 headphones and I was headed for a 10 hour plane ride. After finding the [...]store at the airport I was told they did not carry the Bose product at the store, but did have the Soundshield 550. Althogh I was convinced after reading all the hype about Bose that they must be my choice I was really dreading another long flight with the constant noice level and gave in. And, as a side benefit I saved [$] off the cost of the Bose I was searching for.I must say that I was pleasantly surprised. The noise cancelling was wonderful! I tested the noise level of the plane both with and without the headset and after flying hundreds of times I was amazed at how much noise was tuned out. I also suffer from tinnitus (ringing ears) and I did not hear the ringing at all. The set was very comfortable and did not prevent me from leaning against a pillow for a short nap which for the first time was not disturbed by the noise interruptions of the plane and passengers.After this first trip I can't attest to the construction or durability, but I do know that they worked for me!
