This thing rocks! Okay, really quick here. It pugs into your ipod with ease. Its portable. Its rechargable. It has great sound (if you want to "harass" the neighbors with sound, you'll need something different), it is louder than you think it is! Oh, AND! it has an external input jack so if you have something like Sirius Radio or even a Zune you can plug in a standard jack and BINGO! its on. Love it, recommend it to everyone who likes to rock out at the beach.

The other brand name external speakers are so expense that we were not inclined to send them to a college dorm room to be used out on the green, tennis courts, etc. This speaker is great for young adults that want an exterior speaker for their I-POD.

This is a great portable speaker! We use it on the boat, at the beach and everywhere in between! It is a must have at parties where there isn't music. It is element proof, so we don't worry about taking it anywhere. It's a little heavy, but I will deal with that since it has an 8 hour rechargeable battery!

I purchased the boom bucket to use outdoors on my patio and around the pool. You don't have to worry about your IPod getting wet, its very sturdy, 8 hours of playing time on one charge, it keeps your IPod charged, but best of all its powerful sound is awesome. The only drawback I found is installing and removing my IPod touch is difficult because of its size and the size of the portal it fits into. It should be easy with smaller IPods. Other than that I'd by another.

The charge lasted for 10 hours the first time and 6 hours the second. Having trouble knowing when the item is fully charged. Great sound!!! and easy to use. Perfect for the backyard, pool, or beach.

My wife just built us a pool and we, pretty much use this every time we are in the pool. I also use it when I take a shower, now I don't take it in the shower with me, but knowing that the steam and humidity won't hurt it, gives me peace of mind.

The unit is great. Love the rechargable battery.

Only two issues:
1) The external selector switches are slow if you are scrolling through the songs. The kids are tempted to open the top and use the I-pod to change songs. Kind if defeats the idea of keeping wet hands off the I-pod.
2) I'm always worried about the amount of heat the sun can add to the enclouser area where the I-pod is housed. Even Brookstone puts a warning about this in the packaging. With the clear top it seems to really radiate the sun's heat.

This is a nice alternative to the plug-in styles that cost a little more and the other battery operated types that aren't rechargeable and don't play loud enough. A versatile niche product, highly recommended.

We bought the boom bucket home and actually read the directions for a change. We plugged it in and set it to charge the battery. After 12 hours, we had no green charge light and could not get it to work on batteries. [...] We did use it near the hot tub on AC power and were truly pleased with both the sound quality and the use of the remote. Had it not been for the battery pack not working, we would have rated it 5 stars.

The Boom Box was a present to my wife. We had a small stereo system that accepts MP3 players but the sound was not great. When I had a demo at the store the sound was awesome.
My wife opened it and tried it outside on our deck. Wow, the sound was awesome.

It interfaces perfectly with many iPod designs and works as advertised, playing and charging the iPod while keeping it safely protected under the clear top. The sound was surprisingly "Big" and it made the Holidays more pleasant around the dining room table, pool lanai and even on the dock around the boat. It is clumsy with new and older shuffles, but any iPod that has the flat blade connector on one end and the USB on the other--works well with this item. The controls on the unit easily control the iPod, selecting songs, volume and turning it off with the bucket's buttons. Very cool.

It sure seems like it could talk to other mp3 players as well, but it does not.

would be nice if there was some way to scroll through menu options faster than just hitting the arrow keys. Something like the wheel that the ipod has. We usually take the top off the boombucket and use the wheel on the ipod in order to get to the artist or album we want faster.

I loved this product. When I first saw it. I had to have it. I used it for a brithday party and it worked well. We have enjoyed it. I also hooked up extra computer speakers for louder sound. I would buy more for gifts.

I gave it as a christmas gift, and we've used it often - on the porch, when travelling, at the park. Sound is pretty loud, its not a main party system but definitely good enough to cover a patio or entertain outside.

Heavier than it looks, probably due to good battery life. It feel solid and the latch mechanism is simple and sturdy. remote can fit on top of the plugged-in ipod when the case is closed, lessening the chance for remote loss (we hope).

Exactly what I was looking for in a gift, it's exceeded all my expectations - if it had an exterior screen it would have gotten the 5.

I bought this product for my parents. They are newer to using IPods and had wanted a Bose Radio. This product was easy to connect, and can be used anywhere they want, as it is easily transportable by the handle on top.

The primary use for this is to play music for our Tai Chi practice. A group gets together every week and practices to music. Sometimes it's in a gym and sometimes it's in a park. We didn't want to have to carry lots of CDs and sometimes we didn't have electrical power so battery power was needed, and the MP3 compatability was perfect. We also needed something that could produce loud enough music for large areas. This Boom Bucket meets all our needs!

We like everything about it, except that it's not good in direct sunlight. Main reason for the purchase is for portable beach/pool music - but we will have to keep it under an umbrella or overhang - not a big deal, just something to watch out for.

Great sound and easy to pick up and go. On the larger side, but worth it for the sound quality. Battery life is a little short for longer trips where there isn't access to electricity but small issue.

Definitely a plus for those that spend time around the pool/beach or at the ballpark tailgating...

The boom bucket has singlehandedly revived breakdance battles in my neighborhood. With the invention of the Ipod and a lack of Ipod-compatible boomboxes we had all but given up on breakdance fighting [...] Since I bought the boombucket I can now have all my favorite breakdance songs in one spot and it has a 8 hour charge. I can tell you that thanks to the boombucket, there will be plenty of people getting served in Alaska. The sound quality is great, and the rubber seal helps keep snow off my Ipod. Great purchase.

This was a wonderful gift for my husband (an engineer). I bought this a couple months ago so that my husband would not be able to guess what he got for Christmas. Recently, most things in our house are becoming i-functional as we had to buy a new car stereo for the i-pod. We have a nano.

The speakers do go all the way around (so the other review that said 1/2 way--he should return his). It has amazing sound quality, not just "for one so small". It's stereo sound. It fills large rooms fine. We have it turned it up to about quarter volume. Full volume would easily handle college parties.

It has full range of sound--more bass than most players. The controls are very similar to i-pod controls so you don't have to see the menu/read the instructions to know how to operate it. I love that you don't have to take the shield off to operate, though I doubt we will use the remote either.

Many systems that hold all i-pods are designed just for the nano and the others are awkward, sticking out. This one has plates that change easily and all i-pods fit underneath the shield.
I like that the speakers don't go all the way to the bottom, for those that take it to the beach (though I doubt we will put ours in sand). I'm also particularly glad that--unlike other i-pod speakers--I didn't have to pick between colors like neon blue or hot pink, though I do wish it had come in black when I got it. I love that it charges the i-pod when plugged in. I was particularly looking for that feature.

In the summer, this bucket will spend a lot of time on the dock and out on the boat. Great portability. The few times we've unplugged it already, it has lasted 6-8 hours play time without fail. Definitely worth the price.

This system is great for those who like to have music everywhere they go. Since it is waterproof it will go to the pool. It will also go easily to a picnic or other gathering. Not portable enough to hike with, but camping would do (as long as you drive to your campsite). The rechargable battery will pay for the system over its lifetime. No more searching for D size batteries.
