I live in a dusty apartment so my Roomba gets frequent use. It's funny and a bit noisy as it chases some of my guests around (they love it) - I don't mind the noise. I have plans to get the scuba in the next year.
My first Roomba had some battery problems, but this white one I got from Brookstones, I've had no problems with yet. You do have to Roomba proof your room (no floor clutter). It will get stuck and you'll have to rescue it here and there, but still best for a dusty city apartment.

I recently replaced all my rugs with hardwood and tile. This is the absolute best value I've purchased. Picks up dog hair better than a traditional vacuum and tells me when it needs to be emptied before going back to docking station. Besides it's very entertaining to watch while drinking a cup of coffee!

It works great right out of the box. Just charge it up and let it go. It picks up things you didn't even know were there. Note: Keep the brush bearings and filter clean because it picks up a lot of stuff.

I love my Roomba! I just set that little thing to go and it makes quick work of a floor. I use it mainly as a maintence type product. When I am cleaning the rest of the house, I let it work on a portion of my floors. Works great on carpet as well as my hardwood floors.
