We use the night stand right next to the bed on my husband's side (he reads books and magazines every night).
Books used to pile up and scatter on the floor, so we really needed something to hold many books. This night stand is a perfect solution. This could be used in a family room as well.
One thing I do not like is the assembly instruction. It could be more thorough in details to save us some time to figure out the direction of the shelves and order of assembly.

This is a nice magazine night stand. The finish is nice and it provides nice shelves to organize your magazines. The only negative is that every other shelf is not as load-durable due to the use of wood locking pins. However, the shelves don't every need to accommodate a large load, given magazines/books don't weight that much. Overall, a great stand.

This reader stand is made well. The rounded corners give it a nice look and it offers storage galore. No more stacks on magazines on the floor, and there is room for laptop, glasses, paper, pens, anything. It is also easy to assemble which was a nice surprise, and once done, doesn't look like furniture that had to be 'assembled'.

It really was exactly what I was looking for; an attractive magazine stand. It fit perfectly in the corner I had available. I love the color of the wood. However, the pre-drilled holes did not line up, so the frustration took away from my enjoyment.

When delivered it had a new chemical smell, like strong paint. It didn't leave. It was so bad I had to isolate the shelf in another room for three weeks. It still has a strong odor, but it is fading. Otherwise it is a very nice bedside shelf.

This only took me about an hour to put together, but I have a lot of experience with flat packed furniture. It's not the easiest piece to build and even I struggled with some of the assembly. Certainly not for a first timer.
That said, it is a wonderful looking and very functional piece once built. Definately worth the pains.
Took a couple of weeks for the smell of "newness" to dissipate. I hate to think what chemicals were being emitted!

The 'warp-resistant wood' appears to be veneered MDF. This is a perfectly reasonable material choice, but be aware that the shaped edges of the top and base are NOT veneered, but are just sealed MDF painted or stained to match the basic color of the veneer. It's decent-looking, but a far-cry from a proper hardwood edge, which is what I would have expected at this price.
Assembly was easy; the piece is solid with no wobbles. The only disappointment is those shaped edges. I'd have given it another star if they'd used a real wood edge for the shaped portions.

Ignore the picture, the shelves should face the bed. This is a quibble, but a bottom drawer would have been a plus. If you have any experience assembling today's "shipped flat" furniture, putting this night stand together will be no problem. Overall, works and looks great.

Because the shelves are open, smaller items can fall through and onto the floor. I found it easier to use small baskets on two of the shelves and I put my eyeglasses and other small items in there.
Works well as small vertical file for home office to separate different projects.
