It is basically a big storage box and cheap piece of furniture (over-priced for what it is especially when you have to assemble it yourself). The height of the lift up top is higher than my dining table and much higher than my couch and all 3 living room chairs. It is way too high to be useful in the raised position which is the main reason why I wanted it. The doors do not fit very well and there were no magnetic pieces as mentioned by others. It is a pretty cheap piece of furniture but might work well for a student as a multi-purpose piece of inexpensive furniture. I do like the storage capacity but that is the only thing. If you plan to use it to dine or use a laptop, you will need very very high seating in order to use it.
