It is very sturdy, so you can stack both DVD player and Cable box without a problem. Before, if someone bumped into the TV, everyone was frightened that the boxes would fall. Having 2 year old Twin Boys, it happened alot.

I use the TV top shelf to hold my dvr/cable box. I use to set my 20" tv on top of the dvr/cable box and I had to keep replacing the box due to orerheating. Each time I was really bummed that I lost all my recorded shows. I bought the TV top shelf and haven't had any problems since. I also like that it looks more organized and less cluttered.

This is great if you have a conventional TV. Easily attaches to your TV and gives you an extra shelf for those always hard to find channel changers. Stable enough to hold heavy picture frames. I bought one for myself and another family member as a gift, and we're both very happy with it. Of course, it won't work on a flat screen TV.
