I set the soap dispense rate at minimum. If you want less soap into your hand, you will have to move you hand downward from the motion sensor to get even less soap. I found the soap flow at the minimum setting is most generous for what I need. The viscosity of the soap may affect dispense performance. As for a bargain, I thought it was a bit pricey-a coupon or free shipping would have helped. I bought it through Brookstone's internet store which works for me!
