These headphones are just the greatest. Very simple to hook up to your tv. If you have a very old tv that doesn't have a headphone jack they will not work for you, as I have discovered. I often use these when no one else is at home because the sound is so much better. I would say it may eliminate the need for surround sound if I could get additional head sets, If your house is loud and you want to watch a program just put these on and turn up the volume no need to quiet anyone down. Gotta try them yourself. I also think that the movie theaters should offer these to use. It would eliminate other people bothering you with their talking and such. I would pay an extra fee to use these at a movie. I'm just sayen. And if this idea is taken up I want a commission. HAHA

I bought two of these headphones as Christmas gifts. One for me and one for my mom. My mom liked them and mentioned that these would be great for one of my uncles. So, I told her to take my pair. When she went and visisted my uncle (not the one she planned on giving the headphones to) she talked about the headphones and he wanted to try them. He loved them so much that my my mom gave him her set. Then when she gave the other set to my other uncle he loved them too. I really did not think my mom liked them since she willingly gave hers up. Anyway, she went ahead and ordered her another set and after she received them the other day she called me and told me how great they are. I honestly think my mom did not think they were worth the money, but after she received her set that she reordered she talks about how great they are. My one uncle likes them because he lives in a small house and it was hard to hear the tv when his wife was talking or doing the dishes. So, he can now hear the tv again. My other uncle needs hearing aids and really could not hear the tv very well. He loves them because he can hear the TV and my aunt loves them because the tv sound is not blaring. As for me, I am waiting for my pair to arrive in the mail.

Did not perform as we thought advertised; still required TV volume to be turned up, although not loud as before...I did try these out and found that when the volume is turned up all the way, there is an obvious hum. Since the earphones are for my husband, even with a limited hearing loss, he's adapted. I can now sleep in my bed rather than the guest room due to the loud TV blaring all night. Didn't quite meet our expectations, but at this point, happy to have anything to help the situation. (Hearing aid is not a considered option.) Price was very good as well as customer support; they do whatever possible to help you get the best usage;something rare these days. All things considered, it's a worthwhile purchase.

I purchased this headset and the Sennheiser RS110 wireless headphones for a side by side comparison. The Sennheiser headphones use RF (Radio Frequency) reception, rather than IR (Infrared) and have a better sound quality and superior range. Also, IR technology cannot be used on treadmills. The treadmill motor causes significant interference that makes the Brookstone headset unusable. RF doesn't have that problem.

I followed all of the directions on the manual and it just doesnt work! I'm not quite sure if it's just my tv or the headphones. I put my tv on the lowest volume, turn on the headphones, and ajust the volume of them but all I hear is a buzzing sound. The sound is like how when you go on a channel that doesnt have a show on; that kind of buzzing.

Will allow my spouse to watch TV at night and her soap's during the day withouth disturbing me. Great product. Wish it came with rechargable batteries and a charger which I will purchase soon.

Got these as a Xmas present. Setup was quick on easy. The first time I sat down and used them for more than the 30 seconds to check them out on Xmas morning, I realized the quality of the sound is not there. When listening to a talk show type program, there is a very annoying frequency buzz, kind of like having an FM station that's not quite tuned in and this is on either man's or women's voices.

On programs where the sound is more full, music backgrounds, etc. the staticy buzz isn't quite so bad, but there is still a lot of static noise.

This occurs sitting directly in front of the IR transmitter, 10ft away.
I'm going to take these back and hopefully Brookstone will replace.

I received these headphones as a christmas gift after complaining about the cheap ones I had purchased myself. These are great! The set-up could not have been easier (I plugged the audio cables into the back of my Tivo and turned two switches to on), you can turn the headphones off and turn up the volume of the TV without getting out of bed, and there is no static noise or trying to find a frequency like the cheaper models.
My only complaint is while wearing my glasses in bed they start to pinch the earpieces and my ear after awhile. I am going to try to adjust them the next time. Other than that, they are great! Worth the price (if I had to pay for them!)

My family purchased 3 of these earphone sets in September of 2009.I can listen at the level I like even with a hearing problem while others are comfortable with a lower volume.No more "turn this up, please" since each have individual volume controls.We have 2 TVs in close proximity and can listen to one without hearing the other even if the other people may not be on the earphones.Every word is crystal clear and the sound quality is awesome!

I bought these for my husband & he loves them.
I don't have to complain anymore about how high he has the volume turned up on the tv. You see, I love to sit & read and now I can do it in peace. These headphones have made us both very happy!
They were extremely easy to hook up. And if we all want to hear the tv all you have to do is turn the on/off switch located right on the headphones to OFF. Then you turn up the volume of your tv to your desired level. Can't get any easier than that!

This works great. The range could be a little longer, but I live in a condo and this keeps me from disturbing my neighbors. I wish this could be more lightweight, but all in all a good product.

I have my tv and dvd player hooked up to my stereo receiver. My stereo receiver has two buttons that allow me to turn off all speakers except for the headphone jack. It makes a great setup.

The sound quality is pretty good, better than expected. The headphones deliver some pretty good bass, and you have plenty of volume that can be adjusted right from the headphones.

There are two thing that need improvement:

1. It would be nice if this product came with rechargeable battries and a charger, it could be built into the base.

2. The reception range is good, but not great.
The only problem I have with reception is when I step out of (Line of Sight) from the base.
Also when someone walks in front of the base reception gets weak and fuzzy for a second or two.

Over all I really like this product and use it on a regular basis.

Worked fine (minor "hiss" in background), but problem is when wireless receiver is plugged into TV, completely mutes television audio (even if headphone switch is in "off" position.) So if you and your partner are watching TV in bed and one of you is ready to go to sleep, the other one has to get out of bed to plug the unit into the back of the television in order to make the headphones work. (Or vice versa, if one of you was using the headphones earlier and now you both want to hear the TV, someone has to get out of bed and cross the room to unplug the receiver from the back of the TV first.) Hope they will redesign this such that the wireless receiver can be left permanently plugged into the TV, and the "on/off" switch on the headphones themselves can enable/disable the muting effect. Would have kept these otherwise.

I can hear the TV clearly using these headphones while exercising on the treadmill. The only con I have is they are very warm on my ears.
