Simply connect iConvert® to your VCR, camcorder or DVD player and insert a standard SD or SDHC memory card. Then press PLAY—and iConvert® records your movies as you watch. When finished recording, remove memory card and transfer digital videos to your computer or other digital device.

Although it does what it is supposed to do: a SD recorder for TV, DVD players and every device that has Video Output, the working is cumbersomely slow because it records in real time. This is okay for Taping TV shows, but difficult for archiving tapes etc. IF you use a computer, I believe there is a software on the market that would rip DVDs and convert the file to various formats.

The directions were a bit hard to follow to set up. However, once you got it set up, it was pretty self explanatory.

Good Side: The conversion quality is very close to the original quality. Phsyical Size of product is quite compact size. Digital Format is AVI.

Neutral: File is a bit large but with computer hard drives being astronomical, it is not a problem. Always can burn it off onto a DVD or store it on a external harddrive. For those who care: 2 hours of VHS tapes was 2.6 gb

Down Side: Records based on real time (2 hours per vhs tapes). Records onto a SD/SDHC card which you have to unload onto a PC and reinsert (a hassle if you are doing a lot of vhs tapes)

Overall: It serves its purpose very well but a bit on the slow/inconvenient side. Good product!

The iConvert unit does not always get the signal. Sometimes the resulting file cannot be read by software supplied with unit. Software will not import every time. Softward will only burn to CD not to a DVD. Output is not sharp.
