This has to been the best air cleaner / purifier I've bought to date. I've had 3 other "stick air purifiers" you may have seen on tv which have all failed shortly after purchase. Even when they were working dust still accumulated around the Ionic Breezes.

With the Brookstone Pure-Ion Advance you can tell immediately that clean fresh air is circulating around the room. I have not found dust near / around the unit. When I walk into the house I can smell the clean!

You can run the unit at full power or an infinite difference all the way to whisper quiet. There is no High/Medium/Low. You can slide the dial from low to high and hear a gradual speed with the four fans. I run this product at full power 24 hours 7 days a week.

You can put the filter in a dishwasher if you choose. I clean mine in a wash tub. The water afterwards is dirty! Very dirty! I let the filter dry off and turn it back on.

I bought this unit due to my seasonal allergies. Once this unit was plugged in my allergies decreased greatly. As soon as I walked out of the house my allergies worsened. Proof? This product works, and works great.

If you want a solid built air purifier that will give you a positive return on investment this is it. Period.

I tell you what....As a seasonal allergy this in product is superb at cleaning the air reducing my allergy symptoms. I run the purifier maxed out all day in the living room while at work then in the bedroom when I sleep. You can really smell the difference as well. I have six cats (no that is not my allergy, trust me!! and no I did not randomly want 6 cats, I took in a skinny stray femalewho must have just got pregnant) and this purifier does a great job at removing floating cat hair etc... I admit, I didnt wait for the "clean filter" indicator to light up before I cleaned the filter. I waited a few days after purchasing it, WOW!! Since I dont have a dishwasher I sprayed the filter in a wash tub. I was not expecting such dirty, disgusting, and cloudy water!! I let the filter dry in front of a fan for an hour and started the purifer back up. I highly recommend this product to not only allergy sufferers but individuals and / or families that want and deserve fresh, clean, and pure air.

I have recently been suffering from awful seasonal allergies. AWFUL. I bought this last night on sale. While it was a little bulky getting home, once I popped it out of the box and plugged it in, it started doing the job. On high it's *slightly* loud, but on lower levels you can barely hear it. I have it on high simply because I want it to be on full speed. Let me tell you--I went from being an allergic mess--sneezing every couple seconds, watery eyes, barely able to breathe etc.--to feeling 100%, perhaps even better than before allergy season started! the air feels so clean. THIS IS A GREAT PRODUCT. WELL WORTH IT. And very easy to set up.

We got one of these for our condo at the beach and keep it in the master bedroom. Whenever we go there, I look forward to using the Pure Ion at night because it helps me sleep so much better than at home--with the clean air and the "white noise" lulling me to sleep. (some people find this noise distracting but if you have a hard time falling asleep at night, I find it very soothing). I like it so much, I'm finally purchasing one for our bedroom at home, so I can enjoy the same "peace" on a nightly basis rather than just on the weekends! I don't know why I've waited so long!

I have my apt in my parents' basement, which is the only place I am allowed to smoke thanks to Pure-Ion. It works great for about the 1st year or 2, but the honeycomb filter inside gets tar and nicotine in it which clogs this uncleanable filter. This seemed to diminish the effectiveness of cleaning the air. There were no instructions as to how to clean if one doesn't have a dishwasher. Have to use Greased Lightning Grease Remover Spray--using Dawn as recommended doesn't do a thing between the grids which get very sticky from cigarette tar and nicotene to properly clean the grids. Advise taking out a service plan which is great! Since the honeycomb filter is not fixable, Brookstone sent out a gift card for me to purchase another unit. This is only on the SERVICE PLAN. Takes a little longer than I thought to completely clean the air than I thought, but does so really good after some time probably because of the size of my room. Fan is loud on high and needs to be on high to filter out cigarette smoke. Works 100% better than the Ionic Pro because this unit has fans and Ionic Pro doesn't and doesn't actually suck in smoke. Sharper Image came out with the idea, Brookstone improved it 100%.

A little too noisy at high speed -- but perfect at medium speed. Plus, the air swoosh from the high speed is a bit too much -- even in a livingroom. Seems to work great at medium speed -- even with a smoker in the house. One improvement could be made -- the core is about an inch too long to fit in the dishwasher (except diagonally, which wastes a lot of dishwasher space). Sure easy to clean, tho -- love that part of it! It's a great improvement over having to replace expensive filters!

My kids sleep in an apartment bedroom that has occasional smoke smells coming from a tenant below us. Since using this product I havent smelled the smoke at all...in fact the air smells so fresh and different and I dont find the sound annoying..it actually is soothing at nite and helps put them to sleep! I am now considering one for my room too..I just wish it were a bit smaller...thats it.

It works really well. I especially like the fact that I do not have to buy costly filters. It clears odors out of the air fast. When you walk into the room, you really notice the difference. It's a bit loud when you run it full speed but quiet when you run it at the lower speeds. Money well spent...

This was recommended to our daughter by a doctor whose son had always had really bad allergies. He bought one for his son to try and was amazed at how much it helped him. Our daughter found out, after many tests, that her body had developed a very serious sensitivity to an allergy drug that she had taken for years. To make a long story short, we bought our daughter 2 of these machines..she put one in her bedroom so she could see for herself how well it worked and one in one of the kids rooms for a couple of weeks. She was really impressed with how it helped her with her allergies, but, it had really been intended for the other kids bedroom, so she moved into her daughters room and she said she could immediately tell the difference. She had not needed to take any kind of medicine for allergies when it was in her room and when it was taken out, she was having to try to find some new allergy medicine. So, she has ordered another one for her. My husband also has bad allergies and has gotten one and it has helped him tremendously. Another thing we liked about it is that you don't have to buy replacement filters...you just clean this when a light comes on.

I use this in my living room and kitchen which are open to each other. I leave it out in the middle as far as the plug cord will allow and when company comes, I just move it to a corner and out of the way. This devise picks up and filters all kinds of particles that I had no idea were floating around. The amount of dust that accumulates on the furniture is now scarce compared to having to dust and clean every week. I will be buying another one for my master bedroom. Highly recommended!

Takes up very little space. We have 3 cats and I am not the greatest housekeeper when it comes to dusting, so this air cleaner keeps busy in my home. It removes household pollutants from the air like cat hair & dust. The filter is very easy to clean.

The fan is a bit louder than I expected, so I only run it at half power. Although it's running at 5, you can smell the difference in the air when you walk in from another room. I have one for the bedroom and the living room, not sure how I lived without them before.

I use this in the bedroom. I had one by Sharper Image. This one seems to clean the air - it has a fresh smell to it. It is louder than the other one when turned up all the way. Quiet enough when set on the middle speed. It does sound like a bug zapper when the collection plates start to get dirty. It's harder to clean than the one from [...] just because there are more plates. Overall, it works well.

We love this! We used one on our tour bus. We traveled for 3/12 months with 3 big dogs on our bus and it kept the air clean, helped us to breathe better, and makes the air just smell cleaner. My mother had a cough that she attributed to air irritants or allergens in the air. She had been to Kaiser multiple times and no doctor could help her with this horrible cough. Soon after I bought the Pure-Ion Advanced Air Cleaner for my place, she came to visit, and didn't cough once. I got her a Pure-Ion Advanced Air Cleaner for her house and she has been cough free. (I also bought a small one for my car that plugs into the cigarette lighter)

South Carolina is very humid and our offices are in an old brick building. We have remodeled several times, but it was just musty smelling. This product really works. If we have to spend the night away from home the difference in the quality of sleep is noticeable. We actually pack the ionizer up and take it with us if we are going to be out of town for more than a couple of days.

This unit is very quiet and seems to work well. The filter can be cleaned in the dishwasher - a nice option, but it is tough to dry the filter afterwards. We have found that it is easiest to dry the filter by using a hair dryer.

This is, by far, one of my most favorite products ever built. This is the only purifier i have ever used that actually helped reduce breathing problems i encountered regularly. The only problem i find is that I cannot sleep with it on, or in other words, have the pure-ion on for more than a few minutes as it begins to noticeably dry up my room while cleaning the air. please improve upon that issue and i would blindly give it a solid five !

I love how sleek this product is. It's a good size, and yet not obtrusive in the room. I appreciate the various settings which allow me to control the noise in the room, too. I know others have said this, but you really can "smell" the cleaner air in the room. It's amazing how quickly that happens. I'm very pleased with the product.

My son came home from college and while he was gone he developed allergies to our cats. We were not getting rid of the cats, so we had to find an alternative. We purchased the Ionizer and put it in the Living Room. The first day, it needed to be cleaned. At first, it didn't look dirty at all, that is, until it was washed! WOW! Amazing how gray the water was.

Within a few days, my son's allergy symptoms had eased greatly. My husband and I also noticed relief from allergy eyes due to pollen and mold.

We've noticed there's less dust on the furniture.

It's EASY to clean. The interior unit pops right out, rinse, allow to dry and voila - back up and running. We have it on 80% and it really moves the air - nice in the summer.

The only downside, is it needs a clearance of 24" behind the unit. We put it in a corner of the room.

This air purifier is worth the cost. I find that it cleans and cools the air with its fan at the same time. However, the filter is a bit more difficult to clean compared to some other air purifiers in the market. It's also not the most innovative design, but it's a good quality machine and does the job right.

My parents bought this for me as a gift and I really love it. Although I hear it at the highest setting, it's not obnoxious. It looks nice and is relatively compact (given how well it works). Overall, it has done an amazing job of removing the dust from the air of my Los Angeles apartment.

I don't know that I would have bought it for myself originally given the price. But at this point, knowing what I know, I would buy one if I didn't own one.

We live in a 100 year old home, and with two cats. That means that try as we might, there is always dust or cat dander in the air. We had an earlier version for three years before it finally died (my fault, I damaged the ion screen), and it worked wonders in the bedroom. We tried the Ionosphere brand afte that (bought at BJ's), because it was much cheaper, but we got what we paid for... died after less than 6 months. This new one does not swivel from side to side as the old one did, meaning it takes slightly less floor space, and does not drive my cats nuts. Cleaning is even easier, in that the filters simply lift out the top, and can now even go into the dishwasher.

I bought this air purifier because my son was recently diagnosed with Asthma. It does a good job cleaning the air. The only drawback is that I find the filter hard to clean. It is too large for my dishwasher, so I clean it in the sink. It is supposed to only take 6 hours to air dry, but it actually took 3 days to air dry for me. Next time, I will try to dry it with a hair dryer.

This is a great product, and I have already noticed a difference in the air quality of my home. I have asthma and indoor/outdoor allergies, and this product has been a remarkable help. It has reduced the need for frequent nebulizer treatments, and even lowered allergy symptoms. A bonus is that there is "woosh" noise that's very soft and lulls me to sleep. Some may find this irritating, but I like it quite a bit.

I absolutely love my Pure-Ion Advanced Air Cleaner! I live in a one bedroom apartment and the cleaner cleans my entire space.
