I use the Grill Alert often and it is accurate. I am on the 3rd probe and the wire doesn't last.
They quit usually when you are doing chicken and are counting on it for well cooked results! Great product with one big fault! Wish they would put a better wire on the probe!

Probe needs to be more reliable. I am replacing the probe for the second time in a year. At fifteen + dollars this is becoming an expensive maintenance issue.

Easy to use. Keep an extra probe as when it isnt registering the probe might be broken. Otherwise AWESOME. Throw away those Long thermometer forks this.

I love my Grill Alert after 5-6 years of frequent use, the probe malfunctioned. The replacement is redesiged to avoid the bend the original one had. Fits perfectly, works perfectly [...]. I have used several grilling thermometers. This one has consistently been my favorite.

The grill alert allows you to put the meat in thse somoker and forget it until you hear the first alert(you entre is almost ready). After the first alert you are then informed when the temp. that you have selected is reached. It allows you to cook the meat to perfection everytime.

Great way to grill or cook meats to the right temperature. Voice announces when the temperature is close and when the meat is done. Must be careful with the probe, as the place where the wire comes out of the probe is sensitive to water and excessive bending.

This is a great product. Allows me to do other things while always being able to check the status of cooking progress. Also, the preliminary reminder allows for prep time for side dishes. It's very easy to use too and the pre programmed temp settings take away any guess work.

The old probe design was angled, while the new one is straight. I prefer the angled version because the new one sticks out further (which means it is more likely to hit the grill lid, which I don't want) and is harder to pull out with one hand.

The replacement probe has a much better design for durability than the original probe. I was very pleased that it had more reliable connections where the old probe could wear. I'm very happy I replaced it and love the whole thermometer as a whole.

The new straight alingment and cable connection are better then the original. It should be more durable and less susceptable to damage to the cable.

The replacement probe is straight (the original had a 90 degree bend) and seems sturdier than the original. The straight probe makes it a lot easier to use in our grille. I've also used it in the oven and it works great.

I had an older unit with one of the older probes on it. That unit eventually came apart at the joint and no longer functioned. I have now used this new probe about 70 times, and it is still functioning great. It's also much easier to clean than the old probe. Fantastic improvement...thank you.

Allows you to step away from the grill to watch the game, play with the kids or do what ever you want while being able to monitor your meal and ensure a perfect outcome. Would like to see one improvement with the addition of a second probe to monitor the temp inside the grill.

It does break easily if you grill out a lot. It takes very little to clean it but with a lot of handling of the probe it won't last too long. However, the replacement part was easy to order[...] and cheap to purchase. Well worth it!!

This accurate probe is easy to use. After learning where to place it in your cut of meat the rest is done for you. The probe does not have the longest wear life but the conditions it is used under are harsh. Being able to buy replacements at a reasonable price is a great plus

The original probe that came with the unit had a crimp to attach the probe to the wire, and it caused the unit to malfunction. The replacement probe has been redesigned with a heavy duty steel collar, and works much better.

I stick the probe in the turkey and drop the turkey in the oil. The remote unit transmits the temperature to the unit on my belt. I don't have to stay near. When the bird is done, the thing starts talking and won't shut up till I do something about it.

Loved the talking Grill Alert. It quit, then I went to Brookstone Catalog and found a replacement for the Probe. I ordered, it arrived in only a couple of days, hooked it up and the Grill Alert was like new again. Then I bought one for my daughter and she is very happy to have her Grill Alert back working and talking!

I was amazed that the first probe stopped working after carefully using it less than a half dozen times. [...] Brookstone seems to have figured out what the problem was because the connection between the wire and the probe (where it broke) is now much heftier looking. Hopefully it will last longer than the first one.

This is a replacement probe. The old one got wet and shorted out. I think this one is a better design... Only time will tell

This device deserves a five star award and is great in all respects except for probe failures that occur at the probe to braided cable interface requiring frequent replacement. Fix this problem and I would recommend this to everyone and I am sure they would find it as indispensible as I do.

Bought the Grill Alert one yr ago, used 5times/wk on average. LOVE it! Due to continual use, tho', the probe, because of its kinky wiring, stopped relaying the temps to the base unit. Simple solution: the replacement probe! Now I'm back in business, grilling my family's favorites! Fool-proof barbeque!
