    We used this as our patio umbrella for about 5 weeks until the winch seized and the crank broke off. Brookstone only warranties this product for 30 days, so we had to deal with the manufacturer. The umbrella was eventually replaced by the manufacturer, but I do not feel it should have broken in the first place.

    A word of advice: be very careful when raising/lowering the umbrella. If the crank becomes difficult to turn, the winch may be permanantly damaged by further use.

    We thought we were going to break the mechanism trying to figure out how it tilts. Tilt operation is BEYOND the full extension of the umbrella! No directions to confirm.
    We can only use it on a limited basis as we're on the crest of a hill and ANY breeze or wind, when it is open, pulls the entire umbrella out of the heavy duty stand and almost blows it away. We have barely caught it twice! We feel the wind prevention top material is tied too closely to the main umbrella and, therefore, can't do its job properly.
    We like the quality of the umbrella, the colors, and the substantial material. It provides excellent, cooling shade no matter what angle the sun is shining!
