We use this on our front deck, which faces west. During the winter we like the solar energy, but in summer the solar energy overheats our house. the umbrellas have worked very well and block the sun. They are attractive and easy to assemble.

Those big market umbrellas are really great, but they need a lot of open space. Not everyone has that luxury. So it's great that we can enjoy shade from an umbrella even in a small space with the half canopy umbrella. You can place it just inches from a wall or a slider, and it stands firm, keeping you cool out of the sun's rays. Why didn't someone think of this sooner?
