The heating element is good, although the back feels a lot warmer than the front. It's very easy to accidentally hit the on/off button. The battery is kind of bulky too. Good for a couple hours. Not sure it's worth the price.

I have worn the vest as casual work attire most everyday since I received it. It has kept me warm walking through parking lots & to & from the car. Haven't experienced wearing the vest in a rainstorm but snow has not stuck to it. The vest is lightweight, comfortable and keeps me warm. However, I have to recharge the battery nightly for a full charge the next day.

Bought to use on my motorcycle as an alternative to the pricy wired motorcycle heated jackets. The battery only lasts an hour on high so I contacted the manufacturer by phone (the owner picked up) and ordered the cig lighter adapter. It's around $50 shipped but you have no alternative.
The vest works well, but I am guessing that the wired motorcycle heated jackets get warmer. Since I am, lets say, "frugal", I think this is a good alternative for way less than half the price.
The up side is that you can use the battery when you are off the bike. I have been using it on the very cold days to walk the dog. It reduces the bulk of multi-layering.
Overall, a well made product.

The older version had a much longer lasting battery, but all other changes are positive. The new version has a nicer pocket configuation. The fabric is nicer. The controller is much more user friendly. The newer vest is more stylish. The padded battery pack is a nice touch, also.

With the control in the zipper pocket, the vest can get turned on by a car seat belt. It keeps you toasty warm when standing around waiting for others to get ready to go snowmobiling. You want to remember not to turn it off after charging...just leave it on. Our daughter uses hers while doing outside chores and teaching riding and loves it so much, we bought another.

i bought this as a gift for my boyfriend. He is an outdoors man. He wears the vest all of the time and loves it. It warms nicely. His only complaint is that the battery charge doesn't seem to last long. I got him the extra large because that's the size that he takes for jackets and shirts. The vest seems to run big, the extra large was a little too big for him.

By January, I'm so sick of heavy coats and jackets. A heated vest is the perfect solution. Bought a men's small because you didn't have the women's on sale and it's been just fine. Even wore it to Fashion Week. I've recommended the thing to everybody I know.

The battery lasts a reasonable time and really does not take long to recharge. Sizing info for the vest is dead on; in the past, I generally took an XL. On this vest, I went with the measured size which was a Large - perfect fit! The only drawback I have found is, if the battery switch is left in the "on" position, the 3 way switch (High-Medium-Low) can be easily activated by accident. I thought the vest was retaining heat while it was actually producing it; when I went to activate it, the battery had been used up. More of a caveat to the user than a drawback. We have had a cold, long Winter this year and this item has definitely made it more tolerable.

My husband has worn this heated vest truly every day since he opened his present Christmas day! He wears it around the house, under his coat on his drives to work, over his thermals while working outside. He recharges the battery every night and it's ready for the next day. Don't know how it will wash up yet, but it is very well made.

I bought this vest for Christmas for my dad (who is 82 and lives in WA) who had been complaining of being cold all of the time. He loves it! It is lightweight, looks good and keeps him warm. He mostly wears it at home to warm up when he gets a chill and when he goes out shopping. He say the low and medium heat setting are what he uses most. He plugs in the recharger every night so it is ready to go when he is. He has not used it in really cold outdoor conditions or for extended periods of time, but for his purposes it works great. When outdoors in the cold, a jacket over it helps to keep the heat in to get the most out of the vest. Having no sleeves makes it easy to put something over it. I was surprised how quickly it shipped too.

I am a paramedic and I use this black heated vest as a supplement to my dark blue uniform. I am in and out of the ambulance, homes and emergency rooms all the time, and puting a jacket on and off is cumbersome. With the heated vest it makes the cold weather much more tolerable, it looks great with my uniform and it saves the hassle out of having to handle my jacket. I would recommend to anyone who has to go in and out of the cold weather!

Skydivers get very cold at altitude. Usually, it's 20 degrees colder than on the ground and if it's 50 degrees, it's 30 degrees in the airplane and in freefall.

This product would be perfect if it came with 2 batteries so you can constantly be warm through a busy skydiving weekend.

Can a separate battery be purchased? I am looking to pick up another.

I use the vest while snow skiing. Usually I turn it on in the lift line and then turn it off when I get off the chair lift at the top of the slope. Works well heats up fast and battery last for most of the day on low. The vests run a little big. The only issue I have with using the vest is that it is easy to accidentally change the heat setting

This is a great vest to wear on those cold winter days. It warms up in 5-10 minutes and lasts a couple of hours. I'd recommend it if you had to be out for hours (ie: Times Square on New Year's Eve). It is designed well overall. It a bit on the large and bulky side due to the battey compartment, but that is negligible. Overall, it is a good product and I'd recommend it to others.

Don't we all get weary of heavy winter outwear? Well, this heated vest makes that a non-issue. Last ,in 30 degree weather, I put the vest I'd given my dad for Christmas to the test. I was perfectly comfortable with his vest under my fleece jacket. Excellent! (Of course, I'll get one for myself.)

We purchased these vests for my parents for Christmas. They are aging and have been cold in their New England home. They use these vests when they go out for a short walk, under their coats as well as in the house when sitting still for longer periods. The warmth is adjustable and they can make them just right. Draws about half the current of heated motorcycling vests, which my 53 year old machine's electric system couldn't support. It can handle this. The 3 extra volts (12 vs 9 with supplied battery) don't seem to bother the vest.

The batteries charge quickly and are light weight. On high the vest is too warm for anything outside of the arctic circle, it's quite comfortable on the low setting.

I use this for may dad. He has Arthritis and we use it to heat him up in the morning and while he is sitting in church in the winter.
The replacement batteries and car adapter only avail only from mfr are over the top expensive and the shipping is ridiculous. It would be great if Brookstone could offer these in the store to save us some $$. I would recommend buying the 2 year coverage based on just the replacement value of the battery.

So far so good. It hasn't really been that cold here as of yet, but it does get really hot when i have used it. Make sure that you have something between you and the vest, it can get hot at times. Also the white clip that comes with the vest is not in the instructions. Its to help with resealing the large plastic zip lock bag for storage.
