    They work well on snow and even on the ice, but the back strap slips off too easily and doesn't hold on the shoe well.

    Used these when I was a bobsledder on icy tracks and snowy/icy mountains (paved and gravel). They are great so we bought some for our parents for their outdoor recreation. They are expensive but very sturdy and the cleats are replaceable (although I haven't had to do that yet).
