After a small rain it no longer work anymore. I went to return the product but I didn't have the sales slip. so I was stuck with it.

My wife bought this for me for Christmas. I used maybe a 1/2 dozen times and the the rain killed it. I don't know what she payed for it, but I had one that she had bought me at Christmas Tree shop 3 years ago for less than $10 and that still works. I left that out all winter.

Cannot believe this plastic grille light product was designed for BBQ useage. What were the designers thinking. After a few months, the body started to melt and the light would not function. Now it is a useless piece of plastic.

I bought this for my husband to use for grilling during the evening.
Our backyard has very poor lighting so he needed something to be able to see the meat with.

We live in southern california where it almost never rains and when it does it's very light and doesn't last long. I was very surprised that this grill light broke after the first light rain. I would not recommend this item to anyone if even that small amount of rain could cause it to break. Also it's very heavy after you insert the batteries.

My comments are from limited feedback received through the receiver, who grills on a regular basis. I wish I could tell you more. I know the Handle Mount Grill Light was well receive b/c patio grilling is done year-round. When it gets dark by 6:00 PM, it will really help a lot.

Great illumination when it's on, that's the problem. I thought my first one was defective and exchanged it for another one. However, the second one did the same thing. When the light went off, it would not come back on by depressing the on swith? I had to open the battery case, apparently to reset, then depress the turn on switch to turn the light back on.

The light never stayed on for more than 3 minutes,not 6 minutes, then it would shut off. So back again to opening the battery case to reset again.

Fix this and you have a good product!!

This falls into the category of products that should not exist. I've never seen a backyard grill that needed a dedicated light. Virtually any grill has been placed within range of a light. If not, sensible users carry a flashlight - it's more flexible, versatile option. I received the Grill Light as a gift. I gather my sister-in-law purchased in frustration - and knowing that I like to grill a lot figured she was in safe territory. The thing is, I absolutely loathe frivolous products - particularly cheap plastic ones - and I can't imagine attaching this cheap plastic novelty to hot handle my Weber. I'd be embarrassed. I'd rather give the money to a good charity than indulge in something as useless as a dedicated grill light, or as likely to fail due to grill heat.[...]I'll add the Grill Light to the [...] pile and think twice before purchasing a holiday gift at Brookstone again...On a positive note, the wireless weather forecaster is *GREAT*

It's easy to use, it just takes some getting used to. It's a little heavy, however, the light is very bright and gives a better view of how the food actually looks as compared to using standard outdoor lighting. This is critical for items that can't be over cooked.

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my husband. He was outside hooking it up to the bbq within an hour of opening it and tried it out that night. It works great. Before, we would use a flashlight or camping lantern to check if the food on the grill was cooked. The grill light is perfect and safe. My father-in-law saw it and now he wants one. The light worked well until it got cold out.
We grill out year-round here in Nashville.
When the temp got below 45, the light would not work. I took the batteries out and re-inserted them, and the light came on, but was very dim.
I know batteries can lose some power when cold, but this was different. I even tried new/warm batteries with the same result. Once the light itself had a chance to get warm, it worked just fine.
Since then, I've kept it indoors until I'm ready to grill out. No matter how cold it is outside, it seems to do just fine if it can get started while it's warm. It's an inconvenience to have to put it on and take if off every time, and hopefully in the summer, that won't be an issue.
Though it's inconvenient, it's worth doing....cause the light really does a great job.
Much better than any of the others we've tried.

The Grill Light is FANTASTIC and has made our grilling experience more pleasurable. When grilling at night, we used to have to use a flashlight or just strain to see the meat on the grill. It was so bad that we had even talked about installing more lights on the patio! But the grill light is bright enough to illuminate the whole grill surface and can even angle to different areas (we have a huge grill so that feature is great for us). The light has been left out in the rain and freezing temperatures and still works like a charm. Best item I have purchased in a long time!

Very good thus far - only used twice since receiving as a Christmas gift - I am sure it will it get lots of use - especially here in the cold, long,dark winters of the Northeast.
The only thing I find cumbersome is that the light shaft does not extend far enough out to illuminate the entire grill.

My one wish is that it was easier to get on and off the grill. I screw it on and off every time I use it and a quicker clamp would be nice. This light was a wonderful addition to my grill. It makes the late night grilling much easier, I no longer have to hold a flash light to see what I am doing. The only problem I have had with it is, that it is a little on the heavy side so it makes the grill lid harder to lift. But the heavy duty design is well worth the weight.

We use our light on a Weber grill. The light is bright, easy to clamp on, adjust and use. We grill 4-5 times a week all year round so the light was desperately needed and is well used!

Not only does it fit perfectly on our grill (I can't see it not fitting great on any grill with a handle because of its' universal mounting), but it also gives off adequate amount of light for night BBQing. The light is not as strong as some other 'spot-light' grill lights, but this one stores nicely in place under your grill's vinyl cover, where the others you have to remove the light to store. I am very happy with my purchase - it has made BBQing on my low-lit patio a lot easier!

The unit is heavy, and it may just be the way our grill lid is shaped, but it's a little tricky to screw it on the lid tight enough to keep it on securely. Once it's on, it works great!

We put our grill light on our grill. We thought it might be difficult to attach, but it fits pretty much anything. When it gets dark early, it is great for grilling at night. My husband used to point a flashlight at the grill. This of course, works tons better!

This was a gift I purchased for my husband. It does not obstruct the grill lid handle and the adjustable light is light years ahead of the portable lantern he'd been using. He's now able to BBQ outside now in the dark of night and dead of winter (if he wants) and doesn't have to try to hold a lantern at the same time he's cooking.

Grilling after work, it's dark and was impossible to see the meat - now he raves about being able to see and is much more enthused to grill. I've not gone through an entire year yet to know it's durability and that is the only reason I did not give it a 5 star - so not quite fair to the product, but wanted to be fair to those reviewing to purchase. Effectively lights up the grill surface and side burner and work area. Brighter than Weber light. I wish it had the mercury switch that the Weber has - which turns it on when the lid is raised and off when closed, but the timer function works well.

One of the challenges to grilling year round is grilling in the dark in the winter months. Short of installing a floodlight that will still cast large shadows, you have the choice of "trusting the force" in the dark or getting this grill light. It's bright and gives you a close to daylight coloration of what you're cooking. The neatest thing is that the light turns itself off after awhile if you forget to do so yourself. I haven't had to clean it yet, but it looks like it will be easy. Make sure you've got a good sized handle for it to fit on, but if you have that, its unobtrusive while staying very useful. I hope it lasts!

This is such a useful tool. Our deck light doesn't illuminate the grill. Now, rain or shine we can grill with ease without burning the meat because we can't see. And we don't have to hold a flashlight while trying to grill. The light fits any grill (ours is 7 years old), it's so easy to use and very sturdy. My only complaint is that it didn't come with batteries (you'll need 4-5 X 1.5v batteries).
