    I wish I'd have come to Brookstone.com to read the reviews before buying the ring. Even with the insert (and I don't have small hands) I can't get a reliable reading while biking or rowing. Tried it on all fingers with and without the insert. The ring doesn't seem to want to read over 100bpm. Very dangerous item as far as I am concerned. [...]

    The Ring shows most of the time far lower heart beat than the usual breast belt type monitor. Therefore, it is unprecise and unreliable. It might be dangerous, when someone believes that it is marking correctly, say 77 beats/minute, while the real beat is above 150.

    Inaccurate and unreliable. I wore it the same time I wore my chest strap heart monitor. The ring always read a higher resting HR and a really low HR when I was exercising.

    Silly me, I should have realized that if this ring actually worked, then I'd see other people wearing one and would never see anyone wearing the uncomfortable chest straps.

    I bought this monitor because I am pregnant and thought it would be more comfortable than a chest strap. However, it is a good 30-40 bpm inaccurate, lower than the heart rate actually is. Given the importance of keeping the heart rate below 140 during pregnancy, this is not only inconvenient, but dangerous. Simply, it does not work. Do not waste your money!

    I am a personal trainer and I love this product. I have my clients use this to track their heart rate during exercise. I find it more accurate than most of the monitors on our cardio machines. It is also easier to conduct cardio assessments on patients because we dont have to have a band that goes around the chest as well as a wrist band.

    I purchased this product because of its small and i dont like wearing heart rate monitors of the watch variety. I would be 30minutes into a rigorous cardio exercise and have a heart rate of only 82. Ten minutes after the workout out it would be off the charts around 140-150. I used serveral combinations of fingers adn with/without the extra piece to make it fit better. Poor workout investent.

    This product did not work for me, and I tried two of them. The readings from the first one jumped all over the place, from 65 to 117, and the clock function did not work. The second one's clock worked, but it did not give a reading over 61. The ring fit snugly on my finger in both cases.

    I've tried 2 of these rings and neither one has worked accurately. I've tried it on different fingers, still no luck. Compared it against my Polar and the heart rate monitors at my gym, rarely had the same reading. Off by many beats. Time consuming to set up. If you make a mistake you have to start over from the beginning. Alarm hard to hear. Had a friend try it and she couldn't get it to work accurately. Find it hard to believe the positive review on this product. Great idea but does not perform as described.

    This is a great idea, but not anywhere near being accurate! It is usually off by 20-30 beats per minute? Also, getting the settings entered the first time is confusing. I will definitely be returning this novel toy.

    This would be great if it worked, but neither my wife nor I could get an accurate heart rate at the gym, where we could check it against their equipment. It wasn't even close - about 15 or 20 beats per minute low. On top of that, the clock only displays on a 24-hour scale. There is no 12-hour setting.

    It's pretty accurate, but what I like most is that it is simply the best alternative. I don't like wearing the chest straps and don't like watches either. This is really easy to keep in your gym bag and put on at the health club, especially because so many of the machines at the club have broken heart rate monitors on them.

    I was so excited when I saw the product. It is so compact and allows you to monitor your heart rate which in turn helps you monitor your stress level. It is like a mini biofeedback machine. It stopped working in the first week which was very disappointing. I am a nurse and have not had time to take it to the store to find out what the problem is.

    I used to use a heart monitor with a chest strap, and found that it was very accurate. I've only used the ring a few times, but it doesn't seem accurate at all -- even on a bike ride on a flat road it moved up and down constantly, and it seemed to be registering lower than my actual heart rate. It is wonderfully simple and convenient, but what's the point if it isn't accurate?

    This ring provides an accurate and quick reading. The accordian part of the ring shank pinches. The LED light could stand to be brighter and the watch crystal needs to be flat not concave. The crystal needs a non-glare finish and make the FONT as large and bold as you can. Make it more user friendly for those with vision limitations.

    Use while walking and exercising. Easy to use and nice to have alarm to let you know when your exceeding your target pulse rate. However, cannot go between pulse rate and timer, would be better if you could check how long you've been exercising and then go back to pulse rate. Timer stops when you check pulse rate.
