Our 7-piece Converter Kit changes the power from U.S. 110/120 volts to 220/240 volts and changes plug shape--so you can use your appliances worldwide. Includes one dual-watt converter with six separate adapter plugs--bring the whole kit or only what you need. Works in over 150 countries on every continent. Low setting (up to 50 watts) is perfect for most electric shavers, battery chargers and curling irons. High setting (up to 1800 watts) is compatible with most hair dryers, travel steamers and irons. There are multiple outlet types in China. The newest buildings use a 3 prong outlet that will not accept the 2 prong angled adapter (safety feature). All the hotels I used had the US adapters available. There are adapters available in large cities in China.

We bought this converter a few months back but it the converter blew up after the first use. We decided to give it a second chance and exactlly the same thing happened. Not very good for travel or leisure.

I bought one of these in 1998 for a trip to Ireland. We've taken it all over the world in the last 11 years, and have never been disappointed with it's performance. I'm here to buy a second set for our family, as we are travelling to different destinations and wish to avoid a fight over who gets to take it.

This product was fine until we plugged in a 1500 watt travel hair dryer. Sure I wasn't surprised that it blew. However, finding a replacement fuse was insane (still working on it).

The carrying case seems a little flimsy, but the actual product seems to be well-made and feels solid. The product works as advertised when you don't abuse it. Others have mentioned problems when using this product with laptops. This product has a 50W maximum on the low setting, and most laptops require more than 50W - no surprise that something got smoked. Be careful to follow the instructions, and don't exceed the unit's power rating, and you should have no problems. FWIW, this are the opinions of an electronic design engineer.

This product works as advertised. It seems well made and the connections are quite solid. If you overload the 50W setting, you risk damaging the converter. Most laptops require more than 50W, so people who complained about this got what they deserve. Pay attention to the cautions, they type of loads, and be careful how you set the load selector - 50W or 1800W.

The charger was a present to my daughter who is attending school in Australia. It worked the first 2 times with the battery charger, but the third time, after only 5 minutes, it overheated. popped and was smoking. Thank goodness she wasn't using it with her computer! I hate to think what could have happened if she had stepped out while it was charging!

After the first night using the product, it overheated the prongs so much that the adapter started to brown and melt. By the end of my 12 day trip to Australia, it had fried my Apple Macbook charger, causing me to have to make a $130 purchase while on vacation inorder to continue being able to use my computer.
