Use at bedside...the body of the fan gets very hot and for night-time sleeping is noisy. It's "not" a circulating fan and feels too strong for close range use, wish that it had high/low switch.

I have this attached to the wall next to my bed. I have it on whenever I'm in bed. It's lasted nightly use for 4 or 5 years now, and has never presented a problem. The body heats up a bit, but is cooled effectively by the air movement. I could not live without this little dream machine!

I have never written a review before, but I read them all the time. When I read that a hot-running motor was the only "con" for this mighty little fan, I had to respond. The motor does warm up but no more so than all the other electric fans I own. It is so convenient and so cool that I take it everywhere in my house and in my travels. It works especially well for hotel rooms and cruise cabins which may have uneven air flow.

my wife got this to keep on the night stand. it is NOT 'barely audible' as stated online - not exactly noisy, but certainly not whisper quiet either. and if it gets hot, as others here have said, then what's the point, especially for [$]? we pulled out an old Hunter desk-fan, which is not as hip looking, but delivers just as much air at lower noise levels. we're taking 'my desk fan' back.

Brookstone used to make a version of this that had variable speed and was the quietest fan on the market. Big mistake to abandon these 2 features. Returned the one we bought.

I agree with another reviewer here. The product works great, but the motor gets very hot. I've subscribed to only running it for a few hours at a time to let it cool.

I bought this a month ago for my desk at work. Now the flip switch is frozen in the off position, so I guess I wasted [$]!

This is a great little fan. Ready to use out of the box with zero assembly but after about 10 minutes into using it, I noticed the motor got really hot to the touch. I'm afraid if I leave it on for longer it'll burn the motor. Pretty pricey for a small desktop fan at [$]. I won't pay [$] for this fan (got mine as a gift) because it's just not worth it with this major flaw. There should be some small vents to cool down the motor. If there's a second generation of this fan with this problem fixed, I would give it a 5 star no questions asked.

I have this at home the fan itself works great but the body of it over heats way too much. I have burnt myself on it once, though that was because the blade jammed and the body heated up even more than usual. Its a great product dont get me wrong but it does overheat a lot. Go into any of the stores and feel the body where the motor is housed and you will see what I mean.

What a great little fan! It’s surprisingly powerful. I think the open blades have something to do with it dispersing the air so thoroughly. And it’s got a very cool look, too.
