A very nice magnifying glass to see small print or items. Works fine. In a couple of other reviews I saw complaints about the light switch having to be held "on" and the product eating batteries. I have not observed these problems. The switch can be held in the "on" position and then springs back to "off" or one can slide the switch a little further and it clicks into the on position and stays there until turned off. In the latter case one must remember to turn the light off when finished using it. If the light is left on indefinitely of course the batteries will go dead. I plan to buy one for the office.

I have trouble with my eyesight, especially with small print....This magnifier has made my life so much easier. I no longer have to call someone else to read the fine print for me. I've tried other magnifiers, but they distort the images...This one is very sharp and the light makes it especially clear. A must for anyone in your life with eyesight problems! I bought this for my mother, who has macular degeneration. She was thrilled with the appearance of the magnifier and the rim-free look, but once she tried the light, all judgements became negative. This product is meant for a right-handed person. She is left-handed, and has a difficult time pushing the light switch with her left hand. Also, a huge negative for this product is the way the light works. It is not an on/off switch - the switch needs to be pressed at all times for it to work.
Its very tiresome and awkward.
I will be returning this item to Brookstone at my earliest convenience.

The magnifyer is good. Batteries don't last as long as the write up indicates. I have two magnifyers, one for home and one for work, and both had dead batteries after a few dozen hours. I do rely on this tool a lot and find it very useful.

I am a palm reader and bought it for that purpose. I often depend on the light of my magnifying glass as the only light I have to work with. The light is dim. It is not focused to shine in the middle of the area that you are trying to see and the batteries are a pain to find.

Mom loves to read and do crossword puzzles but her eyesight is deterioating. She is pleased that it is lighted and has a full sight area without the frame that was on her other one. She takes it to the laundry room and now she can read the labels on her clothing before washing and she uses it to read the print on her prescription bottles.
