The wireless update in Orlando, FL has stopped working and I can't find anyone interested in explaining or resolving this issue. I wouldn't recommend buying this product until issues like this are resolved.

Although it is supposed to update frequently throughout the day (the reason I bought it), it only updates all major info once per day and updates the current temp and "feels like" temp routinely. Also, would be helpful to have MANY more cities available! Will keep but would not recommend for the price.

I received this item as a gift for Christmas. When it worked, I liked it a lot. It was easy for our kids to look at the temperature and forecast and decide what to wear to school that day.

Unfortunately, the reliability of the information was poor. Frequently, it would display the current temperature incorrectly (up to 20 degrees off!), and the forecasts were similarly incorrect.

I contacted Ambient (the manufacturer), and they informed me that there is signal interference in my area and there was nothing they can do to overcome this. They suggested I return the device to my retailer.

It's a great product idea, but you should definitely check the availability of a good signal in your area before you buy.

Unfortunately this has been a disappointment.
1) Have found only by the large kitchen window will it consistently pick up a signal and keep forecast up to date
2) Eats AAA batteries like they are going out of style. I purchased rechargable NiMH batteries after getting tired of replacing batteries monthly, but the product does not seem to function at all with them :(
3) The data is from our major city's (ATL) airport which, while in general provides reliable info, we would rather have something that gives actual temps and conditions in our own back yard, not at the tarmac 20 miles away.

Used my Brookstone wireless 5 day Forcaster covering 150 cities every day to check weather and "feels like" temp before walking or otherwise planning the day.However, after only 6 months it quit working with no indications like low battery or no service. After the warranty ran out - so did the operation. Many times the device would not change days for the longest time. I took the device for rides in the car to see if it would pick up signals, no such luck. The company has had no suggestions or offered to service the unit. This unit worked for about 6 months and all of a sudden it started displaying "No Coverage Try another Location".It never was as accurate as I thought it should be but,was a good guess as to what the weather was going to be like.
I received it as a gift and apparently the City Jackson MS was where I was receiving the signal and it is no longer available according to the read-out on the display. Shame when good money is spent for things and get no better service. I would not recommend this unit to anyone.

It stopped working after 3 months. I have changed the batteries, and moved it to different signal locations. It always says it is 52 degrees out and Monday it is going to snow. Even now in June.

The unit worked reasonably well in the Worcester, MA area. All of a sudden it stopped receiving a signal. I changed the batteries and let it reset itself. That was two days ago, and it still is not working. Not a happy camper!

This item is very handy for a quick look at current and predicted weather, as well as current time. I keep it in the bathroom where I can see it first thing in the morning.

Works anywhere in our house, easy to program, I check it 10 times a day for the current temp.

The only down side is that it gives the day's forecast in one image, so if it is going to be rainy in the morning and sunny in the afternoon, it only shows a rain cloud for the whole day. You would need to get on your computer for a more detailed forecast.

I find it really useful to have this on the kitchen table and not have to check the computer for the forecast.

It was great as long as it worked. The set-up was easy and we used it constantly but within 3 weeks, we no longer had reception. The weather forecaster sits on my desk at work and receives the signal fine. It is great for checking weather for the upcoming days and is pretty accurate. However, the current forecast is not always spot on but is not too far off. The design is great and can be hung on a wall. Additionally the clock is updated over the signal so there is really no need to set the clock. Once you enter your city and receive the updates the clock will self adjust and will aways be accurate and will automatically change time with daylight savings. Since it does not have any weather forecasting components, ensure you check the lists of cities before you buy. Otherwise you will have to set the unit up for the closes city which may not give good results depending on your location.

There really needs to be more cities added to the selection. Maryland and West Virginia have only one city each and they are not at all in the Panhandle area of West Virginia where I live. Otherwise the device would be very useful.

Whether I need to or not, I check the forecast on my WeatherCast several times a day. It updates every 15 minutes. The feature that most attracted me to this product was the fact that it did not require that part of the unit be kept outside to monitor the outside temperature. Instead, this one-piece unit transmits via radio signal. I also love the "feels like" feature because temperature alone doesn't necessarily always tell the whole story.I was surprised when it arrived to find that it was as small as it is, although looking at the description after-the-fact, I see reference to a 3 inch square screen. The size seems a bit small, but not so small that it would deter me from recommending this unit or from purchasing another for a different room.

We have the 5 day weather forecaster mounted near the front door. Although we listen to the news every morning, it keeps us from being chained to the TV waiting to hear the weather over the noise of the shower, or brushing teeth. Everyone that comes to our home loves it, & three of our friends have purchased it. It's simple to set up & accurate. We have been using it without any problems for 6 months. Great for families with school age children. My girlfriends kids loves to check it before they go to bed to determine what they will wear to school.

This item is great! Does everything it says it does. Really convenient to have around to quickly check the 5-day forecast and current weather. Setup was quick and easy. Have it on the frig and look at it multiple times during the day. Very, very accurate forecast. Well worth the money. You will not be disappointed with it!!!

If the darn thing weren't as expensive as it is, I'd have one at work and one at home. As it stands, the one at home works great. Good signal reception, even though I'm an hour south of Tampa in Sarasota. Unfortunately, it doesn't offer more city locations, but for those it does, it works great.

It's a great little gadget that I look at everyday.

My only suggestion to the manufacturer, is to make the favorite cities button and feature more user friendly, the button should be located on the face of the product, not on the back side. Mounted to the refrigerator door (with the enclosed magnets) one has to pull the unit from the door EVERY time a favorite city is to be checked... VERY awkward. Otherwise, a fine & fun product

Before buying this product, make sure that your city is covered as a city to choose from. This doesn't have my city in it, but the city of the person who I bought it for. Also, make sure that coverage of the signal can reach your city. This information can be found on this website. Setup is easy: Put in batteries, set time zone, and set city, and put in a place near a window to get the best reception (bars) and wait for information to receive. The only disdavantage is that the weather may not match what is displayed because weather being unpredictable. Great Product!

This will not work in a rural area. We are 80 miles from a city and the weather forecaster will not work! Our city has a population of over 10,00. It will work great when we travel, but very disappointed that the description did not let us know that it only worked in metropolitan areas.

Purchased this forecaster for our daughter, for a gift about a year ago. She didn't let us know the unit did not work till just recently, so we tried to use this in our household with absolutely no luck. We live in Northwest Ohio, so I don't know if there is no signal here or what the problem is.

it unfortunatly did not have an outdoor reader for direct application. All the weather info is based on the closest large city which is 45 minutes away. I don't mind the city info, but I would also like to be able to have direct local information.

This product is great for people on the run. It helps to prepare me for inclement weather and allows me to dress properly. Have you ever gone out without a sweater/coat because it looks nice through the kitchen window but you really should have taken a sweater/coat. Well, that won't happen again. A quick look at the weather for the day and you're good to go. I got one for home and three for gifts. Awesome!

great for long-range forcast- but the only thing we are unhappy about is that- we live 1 hour north of NYC & that is the temp relayed to us- it would be nice to have our "actual" outdoor temp given via satalite

This is a good product and accurate for the cities available on it; however, I am disappointed that the forecast cities are so limited. I live in Frederick, the second largest city in Maryland, but it is not a choice on this product. The forecasts I receive are for Washington D.C. or Baltimore both of which are 45 miles away, and not accurate for my city because of our location which is more west and toward the mountains. I would think most cities would be avaiable since it uses satellites.

The item is easy to set up and works great. The only negative is that I wish it had a backlight. The black lettering is hard to read with limited lighting and impossible with no light.

Bought one as a Christmas gift and liked it so much we got one for ourselves. Great little device for getting the forecast immediately. Makes it unnecessary to turn on the radio or TV for a quick overview of today's weather or the next 5 days. Easy to set up and use and has a clear, logical display. Ability to set 5 locations is a big plus. Updates every 15 minutes and never misses a beat. Only negative is lack of a backlight for the display. Can be tough to see in low light.

The reading are from Accuweather which gets their readings from the airport areas, so unless you live nearby, readings can be as much as 5-10 degrees off.

I purchased this as a christmas gift for my husband and couldnt wait to get it. I checked beforehand and the Brookstone site listed 2 major nearby cities that we'd be able to pickup radio frequencies from. My husband was so disappointed (as was I) when the screen has remained blank. We've tried other places in the house and outside, still picks up nothing. I was embarassed that I gave him this as a gift.

This Brookstone Weather Station was prepared to do its thing as soon as I took it out of the box!!! Unlike a previous one that I had before and was no longer picking up weather signals, despite moving it all over my house, changing batteries, total resets, etc.----this one is versatile, accurate and picks up signals no matter where I placed it in my house. There is no separate unit that you have to hang outside or in a window (like my previous one). It gives you "real-feel" temperatures which is great for knowing how to dress and battle the elements. The only thing it could have included is a temperature reading for the inside of my house...but I'm using my former one for that, so all is well!!! This one even has a magnetic backing so I can hang it on my desk or on the side of my fridge. This is also small enough that I could pack it when vacationing....and you can program 2 other favorite cities for weather updates there. This is great for when I visit family who lives in other places; very helpful with knowing what clothes, shoes, weather gear to pack.

It is limited in its accuracy to the availability of the weather service info in your area. That being said, it is interesting to see how it differs from the TV news and the paper in its forecasts.

I love the fact that the weather is updated every 15 mins. Easy to read! I have one problem with this product --- our area is not an area that has the weather. My husband needed this information daily for his work.

My husband has asked for this for both Christmas and birthday for the last 2 years. I gave it to him for Christmas this year and it is everything he wanted. He is so happy. You often get more information stepping outside or looking out the window. Unfortunately, what Brookstone does not tell you before you buy the product is that satellite coverage is VERY SPOTTY, and the device "gets stuck" on a particular day FOREVER, unless you take it for a good long drive somewhere in the hope that it finds the mother ship. Lots of luck.

We bought this for our dad, who enjoys little gadgets like this, and while it does what it says it will do, the city he lives in wasn't an option in the list of cities you can receive forecasts for. So he had a choice between two cities that were almost 60 miles from where he lives. It's great idea, and a great product, but only for people living in bigger cities.

Faceplate installed upside down -- mine is mounted on the kitchen wall so it wasn't worth trying to exchange. Simple set-up. I like the instant 5 day forecast and the "what it feels like" feature.

It works just like it shows in the catalog except it doesn't mention what cities are included. Virginia only had three cities listed none of which are exactly like mine but I still like it. So what if the temp is off by a couple degrees. I love not having to wait for the weather to come up on the news to find out the forecast on how to dress for the day.

I had an older unit that I replaced. The display is much nicer and easier to read on this one. It seems to be very accurate. I love the 5 day forecasting. The only other thing I wish it had was an outdoor sensor. I'd like to know what the temperature is outside my door. Other than that, I love it.

Really disappointed. Shows weather for only two cities in my entire state and I live in the 2nd largest city. Very Disappointing and nothing advertising it indicated this limitation.

Seems to work well but gathers data from inland cities that are 45 miles from the coast (San Jose and Salinas) so the weather is not accurate for Aptos or Santa Cruz County.

I easily configured the weather for my area and now have it available to me at a glance. Since I travel a lot, I can also program other cities into "favorites" and with a quick press of a button, see the weather in those cities. There is no internet connection needed so it is convenient also. Very cool gadget!

Bought this as a Christmas gift for friends and they absolutely love it! I personally own the earlier model and love it as well. The new version has up to date features such as an arrow to let you know when the temperature is dropping or increasing--which is a nice added feature.

I bought this as a gift for my husband. The product was easy to configure but the closest weather location was too far away from where we live. So although he was given accurate weather it wasn't accurate for a location close enough to make it practical product. Knowing what is happening 1-2 hours away from us isn't useful.

Nice looking and easy to use weather forecaster. It was a snap to setup and pick my city. I live in Chicago so I was able to get my city along with a good signal. I did notice though that coverage for smaller city's seems limited. Unit has worked great and it is really nice to have the time and weather at a glance on my office desk.

We use the WeatherCast every day, multiple times per day. It was easy to set up. We purchased another one for a family member and her family loves it too. The favorites features allows us to keep track of weather in the various locations that members of our family reside in. The lack of any subscription is an added bonus.

This is awesome. I originally bought it for my mom b/c I felt like it was time for her start living in this century and stop calling the automated weather system every day. She loves it. However, I had no idea how much I would rely on it! I check it every day before getting dressed. I also like how you can see different cities. It's totally accurate. The icons are a little confusing b/c a lot of them look alike, but there is a picture guide in the instruction manual.

We didn't read the description very well, we thought it was a satellite signal. But overall, we like it. We live about 20 miles south of the nearest city, but it gives us the general idea of the weather and the forecast. I keep it in my bathroom to figure out what to wear for the day because I am not consistent with following the weather on the news. It has saved me many times to remember to wear a jacket!

I like not having to wait for the weather forecast on TV or having to go to the computer, but the information is not always accurate. You may have trouble finding an adequate signal as well. I live in a suburb of a major city and do not always have a strong signal.

I have the original Weather-Cast, and have loved it. I bought 2 of the new models as gifts for my two sons, and after seeing the new model, it is even better! The added wind chill function is great. My daughter-in-law is a weather fore-cast junkie and loves this unit. Everyone should have one.
