I would love to use this scanner but it is only compatible with PC, not MAC. My entire company is MAC...not a PC in the place. We have an archive of slides that need to be converted over to digital images but there aren't many slide scanners that work with MAC.

Comments about SLIDE AND NEGATIVE SCANNER ICONVERT:

Loved the concept of converting the old slides into digital. Was going to give to parents as part of their 50th wedding anniversary. Of course we had to test it out before giving. Thank goodness we did. Loaded the program, no problem. Directions were vague. Did one sample slide, no problems. Picture was great. Did another sample to increase the resolutions, picture came up but not the desired effect. Preferred the original setting. OK! Gonna go do them all! Could not get it working, calibrate - check, aquire - check, and then nothing. Even put it on another computer. Nothing, would not work. Spent two hours trying to get it working. Great disappointment. Do not buy this.

If it worked as advertised I would be using it to scan in negatives and slides however I have to spend more time uninstalling and reinstalling the software to get it to scan in a few pictures before it locks up that it's not usually worth the time spent. I not only wouldn't recommend this product to a friend, I wouldn't recommend it to an enemy.

Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:

Comments about SLIDE AND NEGATIVE SCANNER ICONVERT:

The scanner is the equivalent of a easybake oven. Just a light source over a CCD that takes a snapshot of the slide. It can be used with the twain driver in any graphics program, but you get no control over the driver except in the bundled arcsoft photoimpression software, and that control is quite limited. You can choose between 1800 and 3600 dpi, and 24 or 48 bit depth and between TIF and JPG file types.
There is no hardware or software exposure control and that is the major problem I have with this device. All of the slides I scanned turned out overexposed the the extent that even photoshop could not correct them.
Also, it does attract dust, but a can of air can fix that in short order.
If you are not picky about how good your scans look, then this is a quick little scanner. But if you want true color reproduction and true light balance of your original slides, then find another scanner. This is not the one for you.

I bought this and spent 4 hours trying to load the software. 2 calls to Brookstone later, it was determined that I should just return it. I traded it for the photo scanner which now seems to have the same problem. In both cases, they had me download the correct drivers from the website. Call me crazy, but shouldn't a brand new product COME with the correct drivers. Giant disappointment, caveat emptor!!!

I find the various reviews amusing. So many have to do with an inability to use basic photo software and/or heightened expectations...Speed: Yes it slow, you can only do 6 at a time---it costs [$]. What do you want?Quality: Yes, the photos come out as negatives if you don't use the included software. Yes, you have to pick the 'scan from negative' to get the photos to come out as pictures. Yes, you can can use other software, I use Adobe Photoshop Elements. Quality just fine, probably as good as the original photos.Yes, it attacts dust. By that I mean than the scans come out with dust particles ---so use the included dust brush. My goodness, aren't folks weird?

Comments about SLIDE AND NEGATIVE SCANNER ICONVERT:

I have to admit that I did not carefully read the facts and was hoping to restore some negatives of mine that are other than 35 mm, so that was a disappointment. So, having ordered and received the unit in a timely fashion, I found the directions are not very helpful. It took me several attempts to get the unit, my computer and software to work together. The software that ships with it is for beginners, and I prefer to use Corel Paintship Pro Photo X2. It seems as if ever time I unplugged the unit (USB), I went through the same rigamarole, trying to get the thing to work properly. It is tiresome that one can 'scan' only three slides at a time. One is limited to six negatives at a time, but that is acceptable. In its defense, I did manage to get some 110 negatives scanned, but it was not easy, as they don't fit the frames (included) required to run the media through the scanner. The unit is pretty flimsy, but heavy enough, I guess. The button on the top seems to have never worked. Other reviews refer to it attracting dust; why manufacturers of computer equipment insist on making the housing with this black, mirror-like plastic is beyond me. It DOES attract dust, but one just dusts more often, I guess, to combat that. I guess I could have sent it back, but this seems to be the 'standard' for all slide/negative scanners. They are all the same; only the manufacturer and the cosmetics, to some degree, change. I would recommend this only if you can't find anything better for a similar price and if you have slides and negatives that have great monetary or sentimental worth to you, which you want to preserve in a digital format. As I am not a professional, I couldn't justify the expense of a better piece of equipment.

Got this for Christmas and was excited to convert childhood slides. Initial setup did not go as manual described and manual was vague. My IBM PC recognized it was an OVT scanner but could never start it and Windows XP showed it with an exclamation point in device manager (not working)and a code10 - could not start device. After reading a lot of similar, bad experiences online, I tried to download the OVT550 driver in case the one on the CD was bad, and it still didn't work. So I never got to scan one single slide. I have many years of computer experience and never had a product fail on me so completely. This product description was too good to be true.

Comments about SLIDE AND NEGATIVE SCANNER ICONVERT:

Converter was difficult to set up as it would not function on first two tries. I installed Arcsoft software than came with it, even though I intended to use Corel PaintShop Pro Photo X2. Software screen shots in documentation look nothing like actual software screens. Software wants to "calibrate" but won't, so you can't use the ArcSoft software to import images. Unit works sporadically with Corel PSP, constanly losing connection and failing to provide 'live' shot. Only a log-off or reboot of computer will fix the problem. Even tried uninstalling/re-installing driver, but only reboot/log in works. WHEN it works, you can scan in only three slides/six negatives at a time, and note the information in catalog/web site -- works ONLY with 35mm slides/negatives. There's got to be something better. I would pay twice what this unit costs for something that was reliable, flexible, and not so cheaply put together. By the way, the "copy" button on top of the unit has NEVER worked.

I am trying to digitize old photos. I have some just as slides and some as prints and negatives. Where I have both a print and negative, I found the picture quality to be better with vibrant colors when scanning the photo even though I don't have the same number of descriptive bits. I calibrate the device every time before I use it, but the colors are very faded. Digitizing slides works a little better although I wish I had prints to scan.

Comments about SLIDE AND NEGATIVE SCANNER ICONVERT:

After my Dad passed away we had a box full of slides, what to do with them? Convert them onto your computer, I was excited to find this little machine. After I finally figured out how to download software and bypass so it would just go to My Pictures. Works better now. I just love that I can get them out of a box and onto a computer and on CD's for the family. It is a very tedious process, the scanning trays only hold 3 slides at a time, are a little hard to open. The scanner itself is pretty basic, not a clue what the button on top is for, it does nothing. It takes a while for it to completely pick up the picture. Sky is too bright, the clouds don't show up, or it is too dark, so sometimes you have to nab the picture immediately or let it sit for a couple minutes to get right. I do like the ARC photo for cropping or fixing dust or color imperfections on the really old slides. Not quite the same quality picture as you would get if you take it in somewhere, and it is a slow process, but I think well worth it, and family members are enjoying some of the great finds!! Also I have only done slides, have not tried negatives yet.

I am using my slide converter to go through all my parents slides from their early lives. I love that I can finally get them into digital form and hopefully do something with them!! It does take forever to get each picture in, and it doesn't seem to focus well. I have a hard time with the sky in landscapes being too bright. But overall I like what it is able to do.

I had carefully followed instructions and am pretty good with computers. In the end I had to return the hardware to Brookstone. The manager advised me to write a review of the product. Sorry this one is a dud!

Comments about SLIDE AND NEGATIVE SCANNER ICONVERT:

My husband received this as a Christmas gift. We were unable to work with it until recently and found it very difficult. Could not get photo impressions to open the pictures. [...] Finally got it to work with Microsoft Windows software that was standare on our computer, but the results were unsatisfactory. Picture quality was very poor. Facial features of the picture were absent. Pictures were washed out and too light. Were not able to edit into a good quality picture. We were very disappointed in the results as we have many slides of our children when they were young. We would be better off using the money to have the pictures converted professionally. [...] Would not recommend this to anyone.

The slide and negative scanner comes with software that I didn't use as I have Paint Shop pro already which can import the scanned negative.I don't know it that is the reason, but it does scan the negative as a negative image that you have to convert. Easy enough but sort of annoying. Just be aware that you do need a program that will convert negative to positve if you don't wish to use the included software. Slides of course are fine.

Comments about SLIDE AND NEGATIVE SCANNER ICONVERT:

I have been trying to scan in my 35mm B&W negatives for some time. The first iConvert I got was misaligned and wasn't capturing the full frame area. The second one they sent to me works fine, but the resolution, GUI, and functionality are the worst.

at maximum DPI highest quality files, the scans come out with terrible digital artifacts. NO, this is not film grain or film resolution. I have manually made prints with these negatives with much better resolution and detail. The scanner in this iConvert product is absolutely worthless.

What's worse? I couldnt even realize how terrible this scanner was for nearly an hour because they recommend you use Arcsoft Photo Impression software. This software is probably worse than the scanner. Bad funcitonality, glitchy, non-intuitive. Once I finally got it working, the resolution was terrible.

I tried using the scanner with Photoshop. Same bad GUI popped up. It didn't even automatically invert the tones in my negatives. Also, it captures to 8bit COLOR even when you select B&W negative. It captures no dynamic range in the negative, giving you an unusable middle grey rendition of your photo. Scanning into a RAW format or something that I can make use of latitude would not only be ideal, but logical.

How am I supposed to adjust my photo if I only get the middle range, as determined by the scanner's AUTOMATIC LIGHT ADJUSTMENT. What a terrible idea.

If you are thinking of getting the product, STAY AWAY. Worst investment ever. What's worse, they won't give the money back. They will give me a 'store credit'. Let's hope Brookstone can make other things better than this terrible excuse for a film scanner.

You get what you pay for. It is cheap and takes a long time to scan the slides. We bought this for our parents to do our child hood slides and it ruined our Christmas present for my parents. They say easy and quick but there is no way at all that it is that easy. My parents would never have figured it out. So much for showing my children pictures from my childhood. Now we are looking at ones that cost $200+. They have much better reviews. The reviews on this one online are really bad, too bad we did not check that out first.

I have many slides taken during the 1960's with a Minolta 16 which used 16mm slide film which are enclosed in the same size frame as a 35mm slide. Because of the automatic setting of this unit and that the film is so small, the unit is unable to digitize the slides without washing out the picture - to be fair to the unit, it is advertised for 35mm slides.

Fairly easy to use, and 35mm slides come out nice. I have not used it for negatives yet.

I gave this to my mother for Christmas. She had boxes of slides that my grandfather had taken as all of us were growing up. They have been sitting in a closet for years with no way to enjoy them. She has had the best time converting them to digital photos and seeing all those photos again. We had some trouble witht the set up and it can be difficult loading the slide tray at first. Once we worked through it and she has her system down, its been no trouble at all.

I'm really happy with the quality of the iConvert scanner. VERY easy to use! Load the software, put three slides in the holder and scan. It is easy to get dust in the compartment that is scanning so a little care should be taken when reviewing the image on your PC screen to look for dust spots or tiny fibers. I think the quality is superb for such an easy product to use.

Comments about SLIDE AND NEGATIVE SCANNER ICONVERT:

The iConvert slide/film scanner is certainly easier to use than the separate transparency adapter that sits on top of my HP scanner (flatbed). Also, for some reason, the HP scanner cannot match the resolution of the new one. I tested it on the same slide, and the HP consistently produced an image with a lower resolution. The colors are OK, but the resolution is poor. I admit that I even tried to scan a slide at 1200 dpi, and got the same results.

On the other hand, the iConvert scanner automatically produces a very sharp version of a slide. However, the color rendition is weird and doesn't match the original slide. This may be happening because when the scan begins, the iConvert third-party software says that it is retrieving the image from a video. Very strange. I tried to use my Microsoft Picture It photo editing software to adjust the resulting jpeg to no avail.

I have a mountain of slides from my dad's collection and mine, dating back into the fifties.

Tho some slides I scanned I can clearly see are of great clarity, the scanner's LED light source concentrates the intensity in the middle and too intense to allow facial features (like noses) to disappear, with no hope of regaining them by tweaking the picture after the scan. Darkening them, just makes them darker with no noses. But...some slides come out just right, with no apparent reason to for the quality difference.

The LED is not quite a white light source either. My scans often come out overly blue and are often not correctable afterwards, especially if blue skies are involved. The sky intensely blue around the edges and an overexposed white in the middle.

Sometimes the slide is blurred but the lint, dust, etc. is clearly defined. It's not that easy poking a cotton swab inside the unit to clean the bottom glass off, but can be done. My slides are old and often very linty. Anyway, it makes me wonder what the unit is focusing on, the slide or the glass at the bottom.

I understood this was not a professional device for scanning but was attracted to cheap price. Pro devices are up to seven times more expensive. I'll use it where I can and put on hold getting a really good scanner till I can come up with $700 or so.

In one evening, i converted over 400 slides to jpg format. once you figure out how to work the thing, the process goes pretty smoothly.

lack of directions for too many things to list. It did a relatively good job on slides from 1956! only the most washed out slides were unusable.

I'm extremely pleased with my results so far.

Comments about SLIDE AND NEGATIVE SCANNER ICONVERT:

I primarily bought this product to scan approximately 500 slides. The scanning process worked really well and did not seem to be cumbersome. The slide holder tended to get stuck when filled with slides that were slightly warped. My main beef with the slide holder is that it forces you to crop the image before you scan, that is to say, the frame window is a rectangle rather than a square conforming to the full frame of the slide. Bad design idea. (Several of the slides I scanned are missing people who are in the original frame.) Tried to scan some negatives with it, but it just didn't do as good a job as with the slides. Played around a little with the photo editing component, but it is really very rudimentary. Better to scan the slides and then go to Photoshop to retouch. Am clicking "Yes, I would recommend this to a friend," but do so with reservations for the reasons written above.

Comments about SLIDE AND NEGATIVE SCANNER ICONVERT:

Santa Claus brought this for Christmas thinking that I could digitally scan several thousand slides in my collection onto my computer for display. The scanner is easy to use and it actually works but (just like my Epson scanner as part of my All in One) the image quality is a bit lacking. Some images are good to very good. Others, especially portraits, are fair to good because skin tones are hard to reproduce. The luminous look of the slide is lost even with my hi-def LCD display. So, in summary, it works but, if you're expecting perfection, this is not it.

I bought this for my Mom & Dad as a Christmas gift. They have so many old slides tucked away in the attic that I thought it was time to bring them out and transfer them into pictures. This converter works great! It takes some time as it is a little slow; however, it is great to sit down with my parents and watch their faces light up when they see the old pictures come to life. It doesn't get any better than that. We're going to try some of the old negatives next.

I recommend this product to those who enjoy that trip back in time.

Comments about SLIDE AND NEGATIVE SCANNER ICONVERT:

My sister and I bought this product for my mother, and it was very slow at first, but then we figured out the firewall on their computer was reviewing every photo so it was taking close to 5 minutes per photo to load. However, once we turned off the firewall, my mom was thrilled at how quickly she could load the photos. The photos were loading within seconds! I could not tell the quality of the photos. They did seem grainy, but this may have been from the slides and/or a poor camera from the 70's and 80's. We increased the resolution with the easy option to do so when loading the photos, and this seemed to help. I am not tech savvy, and neither is my mother, so it is difficult for me to give you the "Cons" about the product, but it is very easy for her to use and she loves it. We are excited to have this new device because we now have all our family photos on CD's in a fireproof box where they will always be safe.

I long desired to have a large box of photographs (including negatives) digitized so I can share them easily. I was so excited at the ease of use that I scanned over sixty rolls worth of negatives (25 years of memories) within the first two weeks of receiving the iConvert Slide and Negative Scanner. Friends and family enjoyed receiving e-mails of photographs they did not know even existed. I can't wait to get hold of some treasured family photographs so I can scan them. The software that comes with the scanner is very easy to use to adjust color, contrast, and brightness. I highly recommend it for preserving your treasured memories.

The automatic color compensation will change your slide color. White backgrounds become bluish. Flash pictures will come out over exposed, especially those that have a dark background. Negatives do not come close to their original color; basically do not buy for reproducing color negatives. If you want to rescue family pictures from slides and put to your computer at a reasonable cost it is worth the price. Don't expect print quality results but your family will enjoy the results of scanned in slides that can be archived and e-mailed. You won't beat the quality of a slide show on a screen, but it won't put them to sleep either..

This is a very manually intensive process. You place three slides in the included holder and then push the holder through the converter stopping at each slide and hitting the scan button. I finally got in a "groove" with loading; accepting the scan through the furnished software; and loading the next trio of slides.

I was able to push through 100 slides in about four hours.

The slides were vintage 1948. I didn't have a viewer to tell how good the originals were. It appeared to me that the software over did the scanning. By that I mean that as it was resolving the colors, it appeared that the scan was pretty good at one point yet the software kept "correcting" and the result seemed "bleached" out.

I wish I had done more research prior to purchase.

I used this product to scan my slide collection. The results were poor at best but allowed me to view and make a catalog of my slides. The back light is too bright and washes out the details and light colors beyond the reach of the editing software. I was able to make decisions about the slides I wanted to keep / scan and print by a pro.

Windows XP Home Edition SP3

I’m not a computer professional, but reasonably tech-savvy. Not a photophile, either.

I purchased the iConvert slide/ photo negative scanner from Brookstone, and installed it on 12/25. Reasonably impressed with the quality of the digital images (my slides are from as long ago as 1949!). I did about 50 slides the first day before shutting down and disconnecting the USB cable.

The next day I installed a WebCam. Following that, I cannot seem to acquire the image from the scanner. The software seems to be operating properly, but when I attempt to "Acquire" images, the PhotoImpression 6 screen remains blank. When I select the OVT scanner device in Windows Explorer (NOT Internet Explorer), I can see the image of the slide after the device initializes, but it's still not communicating with the ArcSoft software.

Repeated uninstalls and re-installs of the scanner software were of no use. Finally I uninstalled the webcam software, reinstalled the iConvert scanner, and now it’s working again. Probably some conflict with the registry. I have left the webcam uninstalled and used the scanner several times. Great walk down Memory Lane! (and not for those in a hurry!)

The best I can say about the User’s Guide is that it’s sorry. I will amend my own instructions before passing this on to siblings.

Comments about SLIDE AND NEGATIVE SCANNER ICONVERT:

My dad had wanted to convert some old Vietnam slides to digital and when he looked into having them done professionally, he was quoted around $ .75 each. Since he had several hundred to convert, I thought I would purchase a converter and give it a try instead. As it turns out, this investment was worth every penny. We easily converted all the 42 year old slides to digital format in only a few hours time. I was then able to publish the photos on a DVD for him and his Vietnam buddies. From an overall perspective, I give this scanner 5 stars. I’m sure there are others out there that may give a higher quality product, but I felt these turned out very well considering the age of the slides. I have plans to convert some 35mm negatives in the near future that are not quite as old and anticipate an even better digital output from them. Price=wise, I think this was a great value compared to the alternative. If there is a downfall to this product, I would say it is the Arcsoft software that comes with it. I tried to use their DVD publishing program and had many problems, but I suppose that could have something to do with Vista. I ended up using the Windows DVD publisher which performed perfectly. The other downfall is the fact you cannot control the light source manually. This would be very handy for those faded slides and/or negatives. The software does adjust for this, but I believe I could do a better job if I had a manual control. Again, I think that for personal use of converting those old slides and negatives to digital, I say this is a real good product.

This product was extremely disappointing. With both slides and negatives, it completely washes out the images. The product is supposed to "auto adjust" the white balance, but it never seems to get the adjustment right. What I'm left with is pictures where I can't even see the faces - everything is white. I returned it for a new one, thinking it might be defective, but am having the same problem.

Comments about SLIDE AND NEGATIVE SCANNER ICONVERT:

My husband got me this for my birthday and I was thrilled because I prefer shooting film over shooting digital, but I still want to be able to have a quick way to get my photos online for people to view. It was easy to set up, and fast to scan. However, the quality of the scan was lacking. The colors were not as vivid as they should have been, the picture wasn't too sharp, and the highlights were blown-out. I thought that maybe it was just a badly exposed negative, so I tried a few that I knew were exposed well and produced a good print. Again, the highlights were very blown-out and the picture wasn't sharp. Because it's close by, I took the same negatives to [...] and had them scanned. The quality was superior. We returned the product. It may be good for someone who is just looking for a quick way to get their negatives converted to digital (but if I were one of those people, I would pay maybe $50 at the most for a product that did that), but not for a photophile who needs the details to come out crisp and clear and not blown-out.

Comments about SLIDE AND NEGATIVE SCANNER ICONVERT:

I debated long and hard before purchasing. Looked into units much more expensive. Finally took the plunge and have not been disappointed. I sure the more expensive units might do a better job, but for my purposes of converting about 4000, 30 - 40 year old family slides, it is wonderful. It is a bit slow, and I found extra slide holders to help, but in spite of the slow process, it works just fine and produces more than adequate results. You will load 3 slides in the holder, place it in the unit, allow about 5 seconds for the unit to adjust the light, take a "snapshot" (1 sec), transfer the shot to the harddrive (2 seconds) and advance to the next slide - manually. Then remove the holder and replace the 3 slides with 3 new ones. The process is simple, not terribly slow, but again, not fast either. If you have a lot of slides it will take some time, but you will be pleased with the results. On old slides, the color often fades and the auto light adjust will not work perfectly, but again, it works very adequately. The slides might look better viewing them through the slide projector you have, along with the movie screen you set up, but that process went out many years ago. I am an avid photographer with an inventory of over 35,000 prints -- the slides my Dad took -- I am very happy! I was skeptical at first, but am very glad I bought it. I recommend it.

I am VERY disappointed it the scan quality. All the scans are very poor, as the highlights are all over exposed. All the detail is gone. The manual is very vague regarding instructions. It takes 5-15 minutes for a scan to complete. There is no progress bar to monitor the progress of the scan. You must cut your negatives to scan them. I have been doing this kind of work professionally for 18 years and have rarely come across such poor scanning quality. I don't know who wrote the raving reviews, but, I won't be me.

I received this slide/negative scanner from my wife as a Christmas present and was initially ecstatic. I have boxes of slides and negatives taken over the years while overseas that I have been wanting to convert to digital images, and thought this would be the perfect tool to accomplish that. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten to the point where I can even evaluate the quality. I've installed, deleted, and re-installed the software four times and still can't get past the calibrate/set-up screen. There is no response when I attempt to acquire the photo image - nada, ziltch, nothing. I regularly scan photos and documents with my other digital scanner and have no problems at all. I've finally decided to return the I Converter to Brookstone.

Generally works well at converting slides to digital images. I then use image-processing software to improve these images.Often have trouble getting computer to recognize scanner-have to restart computer.Sometimes quits while using and have to restart computer. Biggest limitation is that the scanner's light source intensity can't be modified so it washes out light negatives. However have used it on several hundred slides successfully.

I converted a large collection of slides taken 30 years ago. It is great to be able to see them on the computer, clean them up with Photo Shop tools, and manage them digitally. They have been stored away for years and it is nice to go through old memories since our slide projector died a long time ago. I have my screen saver set up to run through the folder of scanned pics. I recommend using dust-off to clean slides before scanning. Dust specks become big blobs and fibers look like worms. It took a lot of time to sort thru the slides and scan them, but IConvert is sure a lot cheaper than sending them out to a service for conversion.

The unit has ONE format, and for effective use you need to convert to a less greedy format, resize as needed. No exposure control.

Easy to setup and use.

Found the scanner to be easy to setup and easy to use. Worked as describe right out of the box. Additional slide trays help speed up the process, but it will still take time to scan hundred of slides. This is still a better alternative than a commerical service.

Comments about SLIDE AND NEGATIVE SCANNER ICONVERT:

I have used the scanner for both slides and negatives with satisfasctory results. I'm not sure if the so, so results are caused by my very old slides and negatives or is a limitation of this device. It was very easy to install the software and start using it. I had in up and running in less than an hour.

Product is great but not 100% reliable with Vista Operating System. Over a period of time I kept losing scanning capabilities with Vista. When I switched to Windows XP I had no problems. I would recommend product with a Windows XP user not Vista user.

Easy to use. Our family had TONS of slides from the 60's and 70's. This converter did the job and we got our entire family together to watch the old "slides" on a new DVD. It was great. Best purchase ever made to update old stuff.

I bought this while in USA. I thought I had solved my problem of converting all my slides to digital images. There is a basic defect in the system: excessive contrast and brightness. This defect cannot be adjusted since everything is automatic. If you look for quality, this gadget is not for you.It would be OK if, to the software, brightness and contrast control would be added. I hope [...] Arcsoft would take care of this. As it is now, this item is not for me.

Comments about SLIDE AND NEGATIVE SCANNER ICONVERT:

I used this scanner to digitize old family photos in 35mm color format for a friend of mine. Though the software is a bit finicky at times (I am using Windows Vista which may or may not have something to do with this), the scanner did a decent enough job. The only thing I wish was different was the type of light they used. When using it with the software it is supplied with, I get an almost blue-ish hue. The other thing is that there is no manual adjustment for the brightness of the light that is permitted to pass through the slide. However, through using Adobe Photoshop or something as simple as the adjustment features in Windows Photo Gallery (a standard program that comes with Windows), I am able to adjust most of the coloring issues easily.
The scanner itself does not take up a lot of space and gets the job done in a respectable amount of time. I would recommend this to someone who wants to convert their family photos for a reasonable price without having to entrust them to a stranger.

Comments about SLIDE AND NEGATIVE SCANNER ICONVERT:

I purchased this as a gift for my parents who are not tech savvy so I wanted the basic "point and shot" concept. While this product does offer easy installation, it over exposes colors, on quality slides, to the point of distortion. I didn't want to "adjust and enhance" EVERY slide. So much for archiving family photo history!

I purchased this for my wife for Christmas because she has had slides and negatives from her parents that we talked about converting for years.
I installed it on our computer on Christmas day in around 10 minutes, put 3 sildes in a tray, and loaded all 3 using the button. That was it! I then hit slide show and it displayed the 3 pictures. The quality is t
