This product is designed to only neck, not to shoulder. Squeezing/massaging muscles around neck(especially muscles or tendons around cervical spines) strongly..
BUT it won't be working well if you have a thick neck..meaning, better fit for average or slim women in size. Once it fits in size, it works very strongly and effectively..Never broken, excellent durability.
There would be synergetic effects when you use it with shoulder strap massagers..if you have shoulder problems

This product worked great for about a year and half. It was awesome at relieving tension in your neck and base of the head - terrific for helping to ease pain I get from tension headaches and migraines. I also love that it's heated and has a very long cord, which is especially nice. I always used the low setting - which is still pretty intense, so if you like a lighter pressure on your massages, this is probably not for you. Major bummer though that at only 1 1/2 years old it stopped working. When plugged in the power doesn't even come on - it completely died - quite disappointing considering the price point and reputation of Brookstone products. Get the warranty!

When on the neck, it squeezes in a limited area of the neck. Doesn't fit the neck well. Pressure is too hard due to the position of the massager.

I tried this in the store and really wanted one, but the price kept me from walking out with one. Fortunately, I had received a $25 coupon and decided it was time to get one. Works great on working the knots in my neck...I can relax and watch TV or browse the web while it works. Would definitely recommend for anyone who has tight neck and shoulder muscles.

My husband has another neck massager that's too rough for me and most others in the family. I ordered this one for him for Christmas and everyone in the family and extended family love it. We've had it for a month now and when one person gets it out to use it, we all line up for our turn. It is very relaxing and seems to be most helpful with stress-related headaches, neck and shoulder pain. This massager is small enough to put in a closet out of site when not in use. The cover can be wiped off with a cloth which is great since we have multiple users.

We sent this to our daughter-in-law for Christmas & she really likes it. She was in a car accident years ago and still experiences neck & shoulder pain, especially after a week at work doing alot of computer work. She used it whenever & whereever she wants and doesn't have to wait for someone to massage her. Our grandsons tried it (of course) and they said it is AWESOME.
