Heated pad is made of soft and luxurious micro-plush and features super thin "micro" wires that are almost unnoticeable.
The Serta Heated Micro-Plush Top Mattress Pad features a large controller knob that is easy to grasp and easy to turn. When the pad is first turned on each night, it will preheat on HI until the desired warmth level is achieved and then automatically hold at that level for the rest of the night. Unlike other heated mattress pads, this one heats evenly, providing all-over warmth with no hot or cold spots.
This mattress pad uses a low voltage and features an over-temperature cutoff so that if the pad becomes overheated (from someone balling it up for example), the pad automatically throttles the heat down to a safer level but does not turn it completely off. After the offending condition is corrected, it automatically reverts back to normal. The pad also automatically shuts off after 10 hours.
The Serta Micro-Plush Top Heated Mattress Pad can be machine washed and tumbled dry.

I have used heated blankets before, but never tried a heated pad. As the directions say, if you turn it on about a half hour before getting into bed, its awesome. Most nights I end up turning it off at that time, as it keeps the bed warm all night. Queen has two controllers, btw, I dont think the description says that. I can turn the house thermostat down, and stay warm. So, I know it saves money, but no idea how much. I would certainly recommend this instead of those itchy heated blankets.

This is a wonderful heated mattress pad. It is low voltage (it says it is the only low voltage mattress pad in the U.S.), and the materials are good quality. Where I live, I am more likely to use it to warm the bed than for sleeping all night. It's not warm to the touch - just warm and toasty once you are in the bed. I love the microplush.
