Safavieh Scott Contemporary Étagère w/ Elm Shelves

This piece will be the perfect addition to any home décor.

Industrial and contemporary, the Scott Étagère's rustic elm shelves seem to float on wrap-around frames of attractively finished metal.

Ideal for any room in the home, and perfect for the office. This sophisticated piece makes a statement on its own, and a dramatic architectural look in pairs. Assembly required.

Dimensions: 36" L x 19.7" W x 65.2" H; 62 lbs.

Comments about Safavieh Scott Contemporary Étagère w/ Elm Shelves:

I was really surprised at the poor quality and craftsmanship of this bookshelf, even at the sale price (the list price is laughable).

Here are some things that are missing (or misleading) from the description:

      1. The shelves are definitely not solid elm, as advertised. They're a thin composite, with a veneer on the top side, and elm moulding to give the appearance of solid wood from the front.

      2. They don't float, it appears in the photo. Each shelf is constructed of one large middle piece and two end caps, which are joined by the metal frame.

      3. The frame itself is poorly made, with very visible welds on the top side. Holes don't line up to the shelves, leading to uneven joins.

      4. The assembly is hard. Comes with just a single small sheet of paper, with very few instructions. To assemble, you have to screw in 60(!) bolts with a little allen key, while somebody else holds it.

      5. The description also neglects to mention that it's also made in China, and has a very factory-made quality that I didn't expect.

Overall very disappointing from Brookstone. Save yourself the trouble of return shipping.
