We have found that this works well at times and not at others. It's great fun when it works. Hope to figure it out a little better over time.

This is great for my husband who is very interested in astronomy but has little time. He can look at what he wants to without too much searching and research. It is a great tool to help him share with family and friends.

Excellent experiences with this product - dead-on accurate as long as it is left still during GPS detection and away from big metal objects. GPS locating process does tend to consume batteries - better to leave it on than turn it on and off. Can be used in any light - daylight or dark. The voice recordings are very informative, clear and easy to listen to. Many unexpected features. Huge database of planets, stars and comets. A bonus - easily mounted via standard tripod thread to a telescope to help position it. Surprised my wife with this for her birthday while traveling in Mexico - an instant hit!
Very poorly designed SkyScout
By Ross from Lake George, NY on 11/13/2007
Cons:
does not perform stated, Unstable
Describe Yourself:
Professional Guide, would not recommend
SkyScout does not operate as Celestron, the mfg. represents it to. Functions do not perform and results are rarely correct. The GPS is not accurate and close by best to the actual coordinates so beware. I purchased 3 units, 1 was returned once and 1 twice and they still do not work as represented.

Bought this a earlier in the summer. It really is an amazing product. My kids love it too. It tells you what the highlights are each night and directs you to them. It also gives audio descriptions of each star or planet. This is so much more fun and educational than a telescope!
