Two of my kids share a room and go to bed earlier than the rest of the household, so I wanted something that would provide a little "white noise" so they wouldn't be bothered by the rest of the sounds in the house. This machine does the trick nicely. The kids really like choosing a sound each night before bedtime. The auto shut-off feature is nice too.

I use this item when my baby needs to nap. She has two older brothers that make a lot of noise. The sounds from the machine drown out the wrestling matches downstairs. It even puts me to sleep!
Because of the location of the on/off button, I sometimes accidentally change the sound while trying to shut it off. It's not a big deal.

We started playing the lullabye to our son when we were working on a bedtime ritual at 5 months. He is almost 2 now and we still play it for every nap and bedtime. He sleeps like a champ. We also travel with this and it helps him feel at home in different environments. We just bought another one for our 2 month old twins.

This has been a life-saver. We live near a train track and it is the only sound machine that blocks out the sound of the trains for our sleeping 11 month old.

i love everything about this. we started off with a marpac white noise machine [[$] + retail value ]everything i wished that machine lacked this machine has.*Continuous setting*amazing volume! it can get VERY loud.*options of different noises.... car ride, lullaby , ocean.. ect.* its light and easy to travel with* attractive designi cant thing of any way i would even change this product. I'm glad i invested in this proud, i intend of using this for all my children!

The best sound machine I have seen on the market for babies. Highly recommend it. Others have very poor sound quality that sounds abrasive and harsh. The sound from this machine is clear and soothing. My daughter is 3 and we still use it if only to drown out the sounds of my husband's snoring! She also likes the lullaby music.

I absolutley LOVE this machine. I use it for my two year old daughter and since I have put it in her room we don't feel like we need to be completely quite when she sleeps. I also bought one to use for my week old son. I would highly recommend this to everyone with children.

My baby was always distracted by the noises of me washing dishes, talking on the phone, etc. Now, I finally have something that truly creates a constant "background noise" that masks normal household sounds. What i really love is the ability to play the unit continuously. Even the usual "90 minute" cycle isn't enough. I use this and the baby is good for her whole 2-3 hour naps...and ALL night. I just shut it off in the morning. Also, this unit provides a sound level that is actually loud enough for me to have it plugged in on the other side of the room, it doesn't need to be right next your baby's ear! My husband tried to set up a whole "baby playlist" on his IPOD with speakers, etc for her room...but when you have a baby in one hand that you're trying to calm down and get to sleep, you need to just be able to use one hand to flick a switch...not to try and be "scrolling" around for your choice of music. This will my future baby shower for new parents from now on! Enough of the cute onesies...a sleeping baby is the best gift!

We put this item on when my son goes to sleep to drown out any sounds throughout the house. It works really well. The only thing I would change is to offer better sounds. The dolphin and waterfall sounds work well. Many of the others don;t do the job in drowning out the noise in the house.

I bought this for our second child after relying on it tremendously for our first (which we are still using!). I love the continuous noise feature which allows the white noise to stay on all night long and block out or reduce the sounds of storms or kids playing outside. Our kids are light sleepers so this is a sleepsaver for us! I wish it was a little smaller for when we travel, otherwise it's perfect.

I recently bought this product because my son suffers from VERY light sleep. Everytime we used to invite friends over after putting our son to sleep, he would wake up crying, making our friends feel uncomfortable and wanting to leave. A friend reccomended this product, and ever since we bought it, it has been a lifesaver! We like it because we can select the minutes we want it to play, and the sounds are nice and relaxing for our son. Now, when we have friends over, he gets to sleep all night, and we can stay up longer with our friends! ... a MUST for light sleepers!!!

Use this product for my grandson. It calms him and helps him to sleep at least 7 hours through the night. Decided to get this because the exhaust fan over the kitchen stove calmed him during the day.

This is great for lulling a newborn to sleep and drowning out background noises so they can stay asleep. We have been using ours for 2 years and my son still loves listening to the lullaby as he falls alseep (he is now 2). He has also knocked it on the floor many times and it has never been broken or even cracked. Love this. I am getting a second one for our new baby.

This was a great purchase after the birth of our daughter. However, after about 6 months there was a lot of vibration inside the machine and we have been unsuccessful in quieting it. The other issue we have is that during a power outage, I put new batteries in so that our daughter could take a nap and the machine did not work! I knew it was not the batteries as they were new. I cannot return the product, because we no longer have the receipt.
Our newborn never napped well and woke up at the slightest noise. We bought this machine and he was able to nap for 3-4 hours straight! He also slept through the night better, and I am able to run the washing machine or make noise and he doesn't budge. Now that he is almost 2 we are still using it. We plan to give this as a shower gift from now on.

This product has wonderful soothing music and white noise that creates a calm, serene environment for my baby at nap or bed time or feeding. The white noise sound is especially good at drowning out dog barking, loud cars, etc. The timer is a nice feature - although I tend to leave it on continuous play mode out of habit. Overall, very easy to use and has crisp, clear sound.
My son couldn't sleep without it for the first several months as a newborn. It truly was a first-time parent's little helper. This is a great baby shower gift!

This is a great white noise generator, but the power cord (when attached) can act as a radio antenna. When we use this unit in the second floor of our house, we can hear radio commercials coming in on top of the white noise. Pretty crazy. I like the unit so much, though, that I'm going to try to find some EMF shielding that I can use on the power cord before I decide to return the unit.

Our kids sleep great with this on in the background. We take it with us on all trips and it makes them feel at home. Has made travelling a breeze! The kids sleep straight through the night for 12 hours. We used it since the kids were born and it's worked with both of our children!Had to return two of them because they stopped working but [...] replaced them no questions asked.

Best white noise machine out there...our baby has slept through the night since he was 4 months old and I think this noise machine is a big reason why.
We got our first Brookstone sound machine as a hand me down for our first child. The machine is at least 7 years old and it still works perfectly! Now we have a new baby and because our daughter still loves to sleep with her machine we are going to buy a new one. It is a great product, crystal clear sound, blocks out other noises and soothes our children. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
My wife and I are proud "new" parents of a 6 week old. Needless to say we've been given countless advice on do's and dont's for our Colicky baby boy. Even though he's on a much better path now he never seemed to sleep soundly for more than an hour or so at a time until someone had recommended this device. The device has been a life-saver for us and he's now sleeping on average 3-4 hours at a time. This was a wonderful product for my colicky daughter. One evening, my husband knocked it off the dresser and it broke, and I made him go out and get us another one - we needed it that badly. ;-) We still use it to lull my 2-year-old to sleep on rough nights, and she loves it. I can assure you that it will be used again for future children.
We have had this machine for a couple years, and absolutely LOVE it. We do not go anywhere without it, including camping. My husband and I have a previous model, we listen to it daily and is still just like new. When I found out we were having a baby, this went on my list of must haves for the nursery. GREAT, GREAT!!

I purchased this two years ago for my, then, 4 year old. She listens to the lullabye every night and it helps her sleep better and longer. I'm confused about [...] listing it as "without recognizable repetition". It's clearly the same few bars repeated over and over and over again. My daughter does not mind. I'm even purchasing a second one for my newborn twins. They sleep deeper and longer with this product as well.
I wish I had found this sooner! We didn't get this machine until my son was 14 months old. He has been napping wonderfully since we got it and our "tiptoeing" around the house after bedtime is gone. It is great know he is getting good sleep now and we don't have to whisper.
As a Mom of 10 years I started using noise machines when my first son was born. As a colicky baby he needed constant soothing. After buying cheap versions of the Brookstone model I finally gave in and bought the best. The noise isn't filled with static like other brands. I've been using this product for over 9 years and we travel with it everytime. What a life saver! If you're a tired Mom and need some sleep this is your machine!
This is a great tool to help your baby sleep well into toddlerhood. Excellent to soothe newborns who crave white noise, and transitions to a sleep cue for slightly older children, aiding in sleep while traveling too.
