No, I would not recommend this to a friend
The one touch can opener was said to have no sharp edges, but when left inside the drawer where I usually keep my tinfoil, plastic bags, etc. I came back to discover the device had turned on and ripped my boxes and supplies to shreds. It was ok at best for opening cans, but the monster shredder aspect overshadows the good.
