We installed it in a server closet. It does NOT hook up to another vent! It has to be this tube and this window outlet. There is no extention beyond 5 feet and must go outside directly.

Overall, we are happy with it, the only bad part is the remote control that it comes with is pretty cheap, and doesn't transmit far, must be a direct line of sight thing. Also, when we crank the temp down to the lowest setting, we blew a fuse, so have to be a little careful with power consumption in the bedroom. I suppose it's a bit loud, but I don't know what loud is with air conditioners, but i would expect a powerful monster like this one to be a little loud.
