I use this little air conditioner for my dorm room where it gets hot, and this air conditioner really helps cool me off when I'm sitting at my desk and especially at my bed when I'm sleeping. There's nothing worse then going to bed really hot and sweaty. It creates a pretty cold breeze, but don't expect it to be like a regular air conditioner.
The only downside to this product is the heat. It can generate a good amount of heat out the back.

Good for cooling immediate personal space in bedroom ... as in located right next to my side of the bed! The machine is easy to operate, but there is alot of rattling noise until it reaches optimum cooling. After the rattling subsides, noise is comparable to that of a hotel room air conditioner. There is also quite abit of warm air exhausted from the back vents, so our central air has to compete with that small amount of additional warm air. I haven't used the dehumidifier that much.

We have a second floor master bedroom and needed to further cool the room overnight without running a huge power bill. My wife didn't want a window a/c so this portable unit sounded just right. Our bedroom is not large by modern standards, but the a/c only cools about half of it well. The unit does a decent job of reducing room humidity. The backside vents a fair amount of heat. You expect an air conditioner to be somewhat noisy but this unit also rattles a lot.

the only con about this item is that the machine gets really hot in the back. The best thing to do is use it next to a window to allow the heat to flow out (if not, the cold air has to cool down the machine as well). This may or may not be a problem for most people, but I think that it's a huge problem that needs fixing. This is more of a personal air conditioner that is best for small rooms. Large bedrooms might have a problem, but I have yet to experience a problem with that. Overall the item is good, but really needs to improve on the cooling system for the machine's internal system (so that it doesn't get too hot in the back).

I use this in my home office. The office is facing west, so it gets pretty hot relative to the rest of the house. Plus, I like my temp about 7-10 degrees cooler than everyone else.

Instead of hearing complaints about how cold the house is, and wasting electricity to cool the entire house just for me in 1 room, I needed one that can cool me down, and me only. My criteria is as follows:

    No swamp coolers
    No permanent installs
    Small Size
    Quiet
No vents running to the windows

I did not think there was such a product, so this was a real surprise to me. As I have it right next to me, it does its job by blowing real air-conditioned air towards me. Where I sit at my desk, I have it within 1 foot of me and it does a pretty good job, considering how small and convenient it is. But judging by its output, you'd better have it *right* next to you. It is more of a personal cooler than a room cooler.

You cannot buy this product expecting the blast of cool air you would get from a full-sized air conditioner. Think of it more as a cool breeze.

I recommend ONLY if you have realistic expectations. Heat comes out the back, which may degeat its purpose for the unlucky victims behind it.

I like the fact that no exhaust tube needed and it does work for a very small space. It'd be nice if a unit with more cooling power (~5,000 btus) was available.

This is a good product if your room is not too hot, it can only provide cool air if you're close to it. I used this a/c in a small room with two computer and afternoon sun with so much heat in the room so the machine cannot cool down the air.
It's a good a/c if you use it in a regular room(no other machine that create heat). It's also good that you don't need hoses for vent nor to drain.
