The french basement doors leak in hard storms leaving a pool on the floor 6 feet from my office desk and computer. They are on the side that gets the most weather. I have tried to seal the sills, and windows to no avail. I bought 1 absorber. It soaked up the the first storm leakage. I did not even notice there had been water. It did not have time to dry and the second and third hard storm leaks were also soaked up. It is out on the patio in the sun drying now. I'm impressed. I'll buy a couple more soon.

The water absorbers performed well during the recent flooding in Stafford County, VA. We used BOTH of the ones I bought in order to keep the POURING, POUNDING water out of our garage during a time of extreme conditions here. We received 6 inches of rain in less than 24 hours. The water absorbers kept the water OUT!

I bought these to help absorb water from our old 2 story single pane glass windows that were leaking and causing water damage to our floors. I place them on the sill and they absorb all the water keeping our floors dry. These hold a lot of water but take 3-4 days to dry out. Order extra.

This product saved our basement this past April. We'd never had a water problem with our basement in the past but this past April there was 8" of rain and the ground was saturated. The water was coming in the basement from the edge at a scary speed, as if we had left a hose running. We had a portable submersible pump but in order for it to work the water has to be certain depth. We surrounded the spot where the water was coming in with the Water Absorbers and placed the pump in the middle of them, which allowed the water to pool enough for the pump to work. (We had tried using towels and aluminum foil first but they couldn't hold the water in place.) Without it we would have had to let the water collect high enough in the entire basement before the pump could work. (We have since installed French Drains.)

The only drawback is they really swell once they are wet and it takes days for them to dry out and shrink again. They're never quite as neat and tidy as they were originally but it's not enough of a negative in comparison to how well they work.
