Pros:

Cons:
Doesn't fit on tire stem
Best Uses:

Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

The product is fine except for the tire stem fitting. That part is poorly engineered, and doesn't fit without excessive pressure on it. It would not work at all on a flat tubed tire, and the pressure needed to put it on a stem will lead to premature failure of the weak plastic fitting. Not a good buy for me.

We have 3 cars, a Kia Sedona, a Chrysler Grand Prix, and a Hyundai Azera. We love the fact that the compressor is convenient, portable, and self contained (has its own power source). However, this is the second compressor that we have had. We returned the first one because it did not work on any of our cars. It did not fit over any of the tire stems of any of our 3 cars. We are still unable to use the second one on the Grand Prix. The tire stem is very short and the hard plastic end of the compressor prevents us from being able to push it down far enough to open the valve stem. I would recommend it but with reservations.

I keep the inflator in my car. I have a tire pressure monitoring system and have used the inflator to keep the pressure trued in my tires, especially with some wide temperature swings this winter. The inflator has worked as well as a Black and Decker Air Station in performing this chore, though it does not require an electrical outlet. The portability is great, and I have been pleasantly surprised at battery life before it must be recharged.

I am looking forward to upcoming trips to the coast, where I expect to be able to make short work of the inflatable rafts oceanside, NOT up at the car or on the deck where the outlets are.

Heavy, Inaccurate pressure guage, Loud
Best Uses:
Home Use, Vehicles
Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I used this product on my car and it works fine.
EXCEPT that I needed to get a seperate tire pressure guage as the one built into the pump is not accurate at all. For example, my tire pressure should be around 29-32 PSI; however, as soon as I attach the pump the pressure guage tells me that the PSI is at 90+ PSI. Obviously, this is way off & not accurate. When I checked my tire pressure using another guage, the PSI was actually about 27 PSI.

Be careful using on automobile tire stems; for whatever reason, the pump head is too tight and can easily rupture the stem (like I did on my Acura). I found a cheap part called a valve extender at an auto parts store that takes care of the problem! Works much better (faster) using the car's battery power. All and all a very versatile tool if you don't mind the noise.

Not one but two with the same problem
By No luck from California on 2/10/2008
Pros:
Portable
Cons:
Bad Connector
Best Uses:
Home Use
Describe Yourself:
Do-It-Yourself
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Bought not one but two of these units, one for me and one for my Dad. Both new units fail to work because the valve stem connector will not go on far enough to engage the valve stem pin. I tried all sorts of things, including using a valve stem extender and was able to get it to work once in a while but convenience is why we buy this type of tool and having to play with it for a long time to fill one tire is not convenient... I own a different Vector unit (different style) that no longer worked for other reasons but it had an identical (looking) valve stem connector... I cut that one off and used a hose repair kit to swap that connector in place of the connector on this new unit... And it worked fine... Even though the two connectors look identical, the older one goes on the stem easily and engages the valve stem pin while the new connector was almost impossible to press onto or remove from the valve stem... Something is not right about the connector on both these current units I just bought... Perhaps the manufacturer got a bad lot of valve stem connectors because I only see another person or two with similar reviews about the difficulty of getting the connector to engage so other folks must have connectors that are better than those on the two units I just bought... Otherwise it's a nice unit but unfortunately this connector issue is a show stopper for me...

This has been one of my Father's most loved tools. He fixes bicycles up in his rotary club for kids in the area. This has been an invaluble tool in his workshop. We bought this for him last year and this year as he mislaid the charger somewhere and really loved this tool so much that it was a no brainer to replace the unit. Now he has two he can charge up and go twice as long. He loves this for filling up bicycle tires it is the handiest thing he has come across in years.

This compressor frees you from dependence on poorly maintained gas station air pumps. It works well but slowly on car(32psi) and truck tires(75psi). It would rate five stars if it filled a little more rapidly and if the gage had not stuck at improbable levels the first few times we used it. Check it with another tire gage and you should be in good shape.
