This is a great product for storing my bike in the garage. I used to hang the bike on a rack on the wall, but it eventually gave out from the weight of the bike, even though it was attached to studs. I like the way that it keeps my bike out of the way and yet easily accessible.

We got this to have a place to store our bikes in the basement. We live in a skinny townhouse so there isn't a lot of space for multiple bikes when you have shelving, as well. The biggest reason this bike rack is great is that we rent and didn't want to drill a huge hole in the wall to hang bike hooks, but also because the basement walls were cement, there was nothing to attach them to in the first place. This bike rack was the perfect solution: free standing and space saving. It would be sturdier attached to the wall but works fine free-standing. Would definitely recommend!

My initial concern was that these types of bike racks would be prone to falling over. I wasn't sure how it would work without securing it on the wall with screws. Turns out, no screws are needed at all. It would be more sturdy by attaching it to the wall, but it actually is o.k. without it. Each bike can weight up to 50 lbs. and the total load the rack can take is 100 lbs. I actually have my heaviest bike stored on top and this is o.k. balance-wise.
A couple of things I don't like about it are that it seems less sturdy (though in practice it serves its purpose) and also that it doesn't really save that much space since the bikes actually protrude from the wall about 18 inches. It would be helpful to have some sort of band to hold the tires in line with the bike frame, as well.

I live in a house with occasional basement flooding. My basement floor is always cluttered and for years we've struggled with how to get everything up off the floor. When I replaced my bike recently with a more expensive model, I was determined to avoid rusting or filthy sediment that can cover anything left on the floor when the rain comes in. This bike rack did the trick. With a design that securely leans against the wall, I didn't have to drill holes in stone walls.

I ordered this product when my boyfriend purchased two very nice mountain bikes when we moved to Japan. Our rental house, very typical of Japanese housing, has small rooms and very little storage. These bikes being of significant monetary value, I didn't want to store them under covers outside [...]This bike rack affords ample storage with minimal footprint and is attractive enough to be placed in our entryway (and still allows passage!). One thing I would definitely recommend is anchoring the top of the rack to a stud. The assembly instructions state that this is an optional measure and at first we chose not to as it is inside, protected and we didn't want to put holes in our landlord's wall needlessly. However, the few inches of overlap in the male/female ends of the main support allowed for a bit too much laxity/movement for our comfort and we ended up securing it afterall. This is an excellent storage option which easily accomodates two large framed mountain bikes with accoutrements and is attractive enough to place in the interior of our home (at a good price to boot!). We couldn't be more pleased.
I would buy this product again.
