This product is comfortable and works great but the first one we received was defective so we had to send it back and get another (a pain, but Brookstone made it easy and painless, thanks!). If you want a massage chair, this is one of the best. The chair is made well, the leather is not cheap looking - it is very nice. The massages are comfortable and relaxing. The chair is quite large so you need a good space for it - it also reclines fully so take that into consideration when finding a space.

We had a prior model from 8 to 10 years ago. The price is about the same but you get so much more. This was a major upgrade, with far better massages, more flexibility in customizing, more compact chair desgin and added features like leg and arm massages. Where the old one poked at times, this one reaches in and unknots muscles. Definitely a good buy!

I am someone with scoliosis and with constant knots in my back, especially upper and trap areas. i have been going to a massage therapist now about once every couple of months who rates the tightness of my back as "9/10"- and I have been saving up for a chair and looking for a while. This chair delivers, but I think that I am just spoiled from the professional massages and very particular about knowing where my tension spots are. I find that it is not the easiest to control exactly what you want if you are like me, even in "Manual" mode. But since doing this the massage therapist has told me that my muscles are looser and I have more mobility in my shoulder blades, and she didn't know that I was using it. This must mean that it is doing it's job. The only other "large" downside is that this thing is LARGE, you need to have the space for it (which we don't, I wasn't thinking about it ahead of time). If you have the space and the money, I think this is a great chair. I bought it refurbished which is also an option, I have no complaints- it is like new.

We love this chair. It feels great on your sore muscles and to just unwind during the day. If you don't enjoy deep tissue massages or if your are sensitive to massages then this isn't for you.

The chair provides a good variety of massage options and is loved by all family members. Don't start with the first pre-programmed routine -- Shiatsu. You need to work up to that one. Could do a better job massaging upper shoulder muscles. The instruction booklet contains very little info but the controls are easy to use. Our main challenge was finding an appropriate place in the room for the chair. It needs space to recline and a power source.
