I purchased this system around Christmas 2007. I love the sound. However, I've been using it for about 2 months now, and suddenly I'm getting a distracting static-y humming sound from the system, especially during CD playing! I checked the cables as the manual instructed, but still get a humming sound, and it's getting louder too!
I called the customer service number, but was told they had no technical support; I was hoping someone could give me a quick fix over the phone. So then, I called the store where I purchased the system, and will go to exchange for the same unit. I hope this was just an isolated incident, because I absolutely love the system and the sound I get from it!
Also, the remote could use better labeling. My boyfriend loves the system too, but he's not technical, and remote features such as "play", "forward" "back" and "repeat" and "stop" only have universal symbols, which he's not familiar with.
Other than the hum, and some minor remote labeling, I have no issues with the system.
I hope the new system won't give me any trouble, 'cause I do love the sound it gives!

As I was walking through a busy airport terminal (LAX)one afternoon I heard great-sounding music coming out of the Brookstone store. I stopped to see where it was coming from and immediately purchased this system. I figured that if it sounded that great in a noisy airport it would be fabulous in my living room. Boy was I right. Not only is it sharp looking, the sound quality is first-rate.
On Thanksgiving my son and his wife were blown away by the quality of the sound coming out of the unit. My son asked, "Is that little thing filling the whole house with music?" My daughter-in-law had to run out to the car to get one of her CDs and test the system with "their" kind of music. They took turns playing with the remote - changing the display colors, etc, for an hour.
I decided then to buy them one for Christmas.
Oh, and I love that Brookstone shipped directly to my home so that I wouldn't have to schlep the box around myself! :)

Haven't used the stereo that much but didn't expect to. Hopefully it will continue to please me forever. Nice to not have a boom box, this is much more pleasant to look at and the sound is good for it's size.

I bought this system as a gift, and when I saw how cool it looked and how vibrant and clear the sound was, I bought one for myself! I have it on my desk at home and hooked up my computer to it (there are two aux in ports in the back). So now I have a great sound system for my computer, or I can switch it to play CDs or from my Ipod.
This thing is really, really slick looking. You can change the glow colors from green to red to yellow. The remote control is hefty and easy to use. The way the CD door opens is cool and the thinness of the speakers make for great sound that can be put anywhere.
This is a truly amazing product that looks amazing and sounds fantastic. At the current price, it's a steal.

I think this CD/MP3 player is designed for a larger room of at least 400 sq. ft. The sound can be very loud and it does not work well in smaller room. It skipped tracks and the CD door does not work all the time.

The unit had a 60 Hz hum that I could not get rid of. The manual says to 'check cable connections' but I did this repeatedly. The tech support person told me he had never heard of this, so I was asked to exchange for another unit. I hope this was an anomaly....

I like to listen to music while I work but my office has limited space for radios, cd players or the better MP3 attachments. This system is on my desk against the wall. The sub-woofer sits under the desk. Everyone comments on the perfection of the design and the size for my space. The sound is great; the features are great and the look is great.

Me and my husband was out shopping during the holidays, he stop in the store and found this MP3 Shelf System. He wanted to purchase it I told him to wait until after x-mas. A few days later I went online and purchased the Shelf System. He loves it!!!
My daughter was going away for a weekend in Palm Spring she packed it and took it with her also easy to travel with.

I use this system in my office at work - the slim design is perfect and the subwolfer tucks neatly under the desk. I am the envvy of all in the office. The sound is really nice and I hook up my iPod to it and it plays great. Love it!

This was so easy to set up and even easier to use. The sound quality is great. My parents bought one of these first, after seeing their's my husband and I started looking around at similar products but didn't like anything as much. I'm glad we bought this, it is great and it looks nice as well. My 2 year old son can even work the remote!

Had been looking for a compact bookshelf system for CDs... not a home theater or oversized stereo. This one fits the bill and fits the shelf. I love the system and it fits well on the headboard of my water bed. But, the cords are short (and I'm just too lazy and cheap to buy new - the ones supplied should be enough) and that makes the sub woofer hard to place. I had to move in a side table for its placement. That inconvenience aside, the sound is wonderful, the colored lights at the bottom of the unit make a great night light (an unexpected bonus), and the remote control makes it a breeze to operate.
All-in-all, I would highly recommend this product.

System size makes it easy to own and listen to without it dominating your room decor.
Kids can hook their iPods to it very easily.
Also, I use it with my CD changer (2nd Aux input) and it works great with that as well.
It has great sound but every time I hook it up somthings wrong with it first the remote, next the speaker to subwoofer cable. I wish i could set it up and listen without default

Great music reproduction for such thin speakers and compact enough to place on a bookshelf. Shut off timer and custom color display makes it great as a bedroom unit. Great system for your office or workspace as well. The systems remote design seems to be its weak link but, [...]
