I fell recently and injured my shoulder and neck. Oh, the pain this bear helps me bear!! I got the larger bear because the 12" one is about the size of a beanie baby (way too small for an older child or adult to consider "huggable"). However, it's almost too big for an adult. Granted, I am on the petite side. ;)I got it because I love stuffed animals and this n·a·p™ material is unbelievably soft and cuddly! Just, amazing. This bear is also great for me as a sort of pillow (if I'm sitting upright in bed and need some more support behind my back or head).I have three cons. 1) Pricey-- I would NOT buy it for MSRP [$], but at [$] was an okay deal. 2) Other reviewers say it can be tossed into a machine to be washed but there are NO instructions with the bear or packaging. 3) Quality control. My bear has fuzzies coming out all over, and there was 1" hole on one seam, coming apart with stuffing coming out. Brand new it had that hole. I've called in, they said they're sending me a replacement but I have yet to receive it.

bought the 12inch bear and was surprised at how small it is - good for a 1yr old, but if the child is older, I'd suggest getting the larger bear. Also disappointed that it was pot luck about which color would arrive (as you cannot select yourself).
