I bought this for myself due to allergies. After the very first night I could tell a difference and the air in the room was so cool and crisp "like a breath of fresh air"! I have a small dog, and at first he barked at it as it made the initial "crackling" sounds as it obviously was pulling in dust, but after that, the dog no longer was concerned! I guess he too appreciates the clean air. Thank you for this product and I love it so much, I purchased a second one for my mom for Christmas. I also like the negative ion feature and it really does create an peaceful and "after a fresh rain" atmosphere & my mom agrees!! Added bonus..Blue Night Light!

When I first heard about this product, it was on the news being tested for the best air cleaner products. The best part I found out about this one was that you didnt have to buy replacement filters ever 6 months and this one came out as the best one!!! Now I'v been looking to get an air cleaner for my mom and sister because they both have really bad allergies. Even though we keep our house clean most of the time we end up with a stuffy nose. So when I saw it on tv, I had to go and get it! Now this was around the begining of june so I thought it would be a great birthday present to my mom! And when I first tryed it, I could tell the difference right away! I set it up on my mom's room and she loved it!! It made the room smell like as if we were at the hospital ( the one that we go to has a special clean smell). So we left it in my parents room for the night just to see if they notice a difference in how they slept. Agian it was great! My dad stoped snorring! ( I think it was because he stoped breathing though his mouth and started breathing though his nose now that it's not stuffed.) The next day my mom made lots of food and now the kitchen smelled like bacon and pizza. So we had the air cleaner in the kitchen and worked amazing!! We also have a small dog and we keep her fairly groomed but just one or two time she goes outside to do her busness and she come in a little bit smelly. This product also helped with that too! So no more buying candles or air fresheners that plug into an outlet! BUT THERE IS ONE SMALL PROBLEM (that might end up a big one). Every so often the first one I had bought would start to short out in around one of the fans. So I exchanged it for another one, hoping I just had a bad one. Next thing I know this one also started to short out on me. So I returned that one as well and get my third one. Saddly that one also shorted out around the bottom and second bottom fan. Iv kepted them in the same rooms and same conditions. And the only reason I said it could be a big problem is because we keep ours on carpet most of the time and we dont want to risk a house fire. It was sad for me to returned this product and wish they could repair what was causing it and return it to me but they cant. If anyone else has this problem, please make sure to leave a comment so I know its not just me!

Possibly works well but impossible to clean thoroughly. Instructions say to put in the dishwasher but it does not fit in mine because of revolving water blades on the bottom. In the kitchen sink I spray with multipurpose cleaner/degreaser to have the scum dissolve - but it is impossible to get to the middle part of the collection plates. The air cleaner has an annoying flashing device that indictes when the purifier needs to be cleaned and it starts flashing in less than a week (the instruction booklet says that frequent cleaning may be necessary). If not cleaned soon enough the purifier makes a crackling noise, which sounds like a bug zapper. Bottom line: it may work well but requires a lot of maintenance.

We bought two units and use one each in our bedrooms at night. I think everyone in our house is sleeping better with them running. Nice white noise for sleeping. Whisper mode is not very loud. My wife has allergies and this unit is helping her quite a bit.

My wife wanted to try an air cleaner for our home. I was really a skeptic, but after looking at many models, we settled on the Brookstone Pur-Ion Air Cleaner because of the independent performance rating and the reusable filter.
We set the unit up in the living room and let it run overnight. When we got up in the morning, the air was noticeably fresher smelling. While this isn't very technical, the air had a fresh outdoor feeling. Maybe it has something to do with the electrical charge the unit uses to pull small particles out of the air. Needless to say, I'm no longer a skeptic and we use the unit all the time.
After a couple weeks, the unit was flashing, indicating that it is time to clean the air filter. We placed the filter in the empty dishwasher with the steel blades vertical to allow the water to flow through, taking care not to bend the steel blades on the prongs of the washer rack (the filter cleans the air by charging the steel blades with electricity, so care must be taken not to bend the blades, which could short out the unit). Because of the length of the filter, we had to angle it to fit it in the washer, taking up the entire rack, but the dishwasher cleaned the filter well, the blades shined, and it was easy! If you want to clean the filter by hand, you'll probably want to use a deep utility sink.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this unit to others.

We use one in the bedroom and one in our living room. We usually keep them on the whisper setting so that it is very quiet, but sometimes we set the speed a little higher when we want to get extra air cleaning going. Love the fresh smell it gives the room.

I like the adjustable settings it is quiet enuf to sleep with, which is great, It survived it's 1st filter cleaning. But not sur ehow durable it is yet
