A great addition to your New York Yankees collection.
Phil Rizzuto overcame his diminutive size to anchor the superb New York Yankees teams that won nine pennants and seven World Series during his 13 big league seasons. He was a durable outstanding shortstop, skilled bunter, and enthusiastic base runner with a solid .273 lifetime batting average. Rizzuto was an All-Star five times and was named the American League MVP in 1950 when he peaked with a .324 average, 200 hits, and a .439 slugging percentage. He later became a legendary Yankees announcer and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1994. Rizzuto passed away in 2007.

Meanwhile Tony Kubek signed with New York rose rapidly through the Yanks' farm system and eventually took over the shortstop position from Rizzuto. He played his first game in 1957 at age 20 and - except for one year 1962 spent largely in the U.S. military - remained with the Yankees until his retirement in 1965. Kubek played 1092 games 882 of them at shortstop. During his nine years with the Yankees he was 1957's AL Rookie of the Year and played on seven AL pennant winners 1957-58 1960-64 and three World Champions 1958 1961-1962. Following his playing days Kubek became a baseball broadcaster and in 2009 he was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame as a Ford C. Frick Award winner.

Phil Rizzuto and Tony Kubek have each hand signed this 16x20 black and white photograph of them together on a baseball field and they each added the special inscription 10 the uniform number that they shared. A PSADNA Certificate of Authenticity is included.
