When I saw this at the store, I stopped DEAD in my tracks. I wanted it!! But it seemed expensive. 2 weeks later I had one. Yes, the battery is only about 12-15 minutes, but so are ALL remotes. What do you expect, it runs 4 motors.
I highly recommend downloading the ARDrone Sim app and practicing before your first flight. And do not fly without the indoor hull for a while, even outside. Parts can become very spendy if you're not careful. And waiting for them is even worst!
Most of all, this is by far the best toy I have EVER owned !!!!

This seems to be a very good product if you have android, but not for Apple users... No support for the IPhone/IPad for free flight 2.0. They have since tried to incorporate some of the free fly features in the A.R Race 2.0, so we'll have to see how good it works there. Battery life is yet to be desired... As soon as you start to get the hang of things you have to land due to low battery... Waiting for the new longer lasting battery to be available state side.
OPERATION: Had a hard time controlling it indoors, then I realized that the wind from it gets bounced around and tends to mess with the controls a bit, but once you get it outside or in a BIG ROOM (GYM), there is no buffeting at all.
They also removed the absolute control feature... not too sure how I feel about that.

I think the Roders and the batter life could have been improved. I have one and i think it is very fun to use but it has its cons. I got mine stuck in a tree i got it down but one of the roders now does not function right and i have to get a new one. But it is still very fun to use and i sugest getting one.

Due to some patent infringement issue, Parrot pulled all the Apple apps, and replaced them with crippled versions that removed all the "easy to fly" software.
If you are great with RC stuff, by all means buy this. If you are a novice... beware, everything you've seen in video promotions is now turned off if you are one of the tiny number of people who have things like iPhones or iPads.

AR.Freeflight 2.2 was removed from iTunes last month due to the need for patents' clarification on accelerometer and absolute control.In the meantime, they have said they have enriched AR.Race2 App with a free piloting mode in order for us to use it. Without the Accelermeter and absolute controls it is very hard for first time flyers. Many other controls also have been lost. At this time not worth the money until Freeflight is restored....

This is my favorite toy, but I have been plagued by battery problems. I have gone through 4 batteries, they start out strong, but after a few charges their life time degrades significantly. After maybe 10 charges, the batter life indicator goes from 100% to 8% in less than a minute. I don't know if the batteries are bad or the charger is not doing it's job. I would get a high-quality LiPO charger and different batteries to get the most out of this toy.

The battery that comes with it is way to small... get LiPo 1300mAh in order to have good flight time. You can find many ways to customize this on the net; some easy and some rather advanced. I have no regrets at all! Love it.

I love showing the AR Drone to visitors and pretending that it is an alien ship with my brother. Lots of fun while it lasts but the battery life is absolutly terrible.
It fell only about 15 ft. but cracked the indoor hull badly. Although if you do not use the indoor hull the rotors get chipped horrendously so just be careful

If you're feeling skeptical about buying this drone because of its price, don't. It is a great product that I don't regret purchasing one bit. The only problem is that the indoor hull often falls off when the quadricopter lands. But other than that, I highly recommend this device!
