NEW Parrot® AR.Drone® 2.0 App-Controlled Quadricopter
Captures HD video and stills of your flights—lets you easily share them online.
See what the pilot sees—in high-definition video. The AR.Drone 2.0 quadricopter with on-board Wi-Fi system puts you in control via your iPhone®, iPod touch® or iPad® devices (and on Android™ devices soon). On-board cameras let you see in real time what the pilot sees as you complete complex flight maneuvers. But here’s the best part—while in flight, the copter's all-new front camera captures video and stills in sharp 720p HD that you can stream live or record to share with friends on YouTube®, the AR.Drone community or other sites with just a tap. Video records at a fast 30 fps through the big 92° wide-angle lens. Record the Wi-Fi live stream directly on your device or use optional recording on USB key (key not included).
Download the exclusive new AR.FreeFlight 2.0 piloting and sharing app and take flight.
The free AR.FreeFlight 2.0 app is now available at the iTunes® App StoreSM. The Android version is scheduled for release at Google Play on May 12, 2012. The app lets you record flights and take HD videos or photos and save them in the piloting device. All flight data (altitude, speed, duration and place) can be saved, checked and shared with the online community. Coming soon: AR.Drone Academy™ for geolocation data of the best flight zones, and AR.Games, with its high-flying lineup of applications and games for your AR.Drone 2.0.
Patented new Absolute Control piloting mode makes it even easier to fly.
Just tilt your controller in the direction you want AR.Drone 2.0 to go—it’s that easy. And with a 3-axis accelerometer, 3-axis gyroscope, 3-axis magnetometer and pressure sensor, your flights will be surprisingly stable at any altitude. (NOTE: The Absolute Control function is compatible with iPhone and iPad devices. The iPod touch 4G does not support this feature.) Feeling daring? Perform aerial acrobatics that leave ordinary RC helicopters in the dust, including barrel-rolls and flips!
At home indoor or outdoors.
Fly your Parrot AR.Drone 2.0 anywhere you like. The included indoor hull protects the rotors during tight maneuvering around walls and furniture then removes easily to minimize weight and wind resistance during outdoor flights. This quad rotor helicopter is made of carbon fiber and impact-resistant plastic. All parts can be changed for easy repair.
Just like the original, version 2 includes everything you need to fly.

- Good controls
- Steady flight
Cons
- A tad over priced
Best Uses

- Recording aerial video
I bought the original one first. But seeing the improvements and extra's with the new one figured it was worth the extra $30 bucks (at that time).Had to get use to the sensitivity of the iPod controls. No problem with the video. Having some issues with the video starting up with the android interface but since I have an iPod it really doesn't matter. The external hull is great. A good idea to start flying it with that on, even outdoors. After a few tries now I leave the external hull. Still getting use to controls but once you get the hang of it, it's great.Rotating and turning takes a little getting use to and the flip is awesome. However, I wish it was something you could try and do manual. Maybe you can but I haven't figured out yet.Looking to spend [$], go for it. I'm waiting on the spare battery.

Best Uses
This AR Drone 2.0 is just amazing!! It flys really well and can be controlled in so many ways, the on board hd camera is very sharp in good lighting. Ive crashed it a couple of times but it just keeps on going, once i flew right into a bunch of power lines and it came crashing to the ground but i flipped it over and it took off with no problem...I not only would recommend it to a friend but I wish I had a second one.
Pros
- Cost Effective
- Decent video output
- Easy to use
- Works out of the box
Cons
- Altitude capability limit
Best Uses
- Proof of concept
I own a video production company and have been toying with the idea of adding drone videography. The cost to rig even a lightweight HDSLR to a drone copter is +$10,000, so I wanted to get an idea what it was like to be able to fly a video camera. The AR Drone 2 is a reasonably effective proof of concept. It was easy to set up, easy to use, and generates surprisingly good 720p video output. The video output, of course, is not high quality HD and needs to be stabilized, but under the right conditions (low wind) you could probably produce clips that are useable in a production.
I was a little disappointed with the lack of altitude; it only flies to about 20 ft. I have a B-Roll shoot in a 70,000 sf factory next week and I'm going to see if I can capture a wide overhead establishing shot to augment our jib work.
Pros
- Durable
- Lightweight
- TONS OF FUN
Cons
- Patience
Best Uses
The con isn't a bad thing...its just something that you need to have when flying it. I've never owned one, but have flown other RC type drones, and from the reviews of AR Drone v1...this one is TONS better. It does an awesome job of stabilizing itself right out of the gate.
This thing is solid, I've crashed it numerous times while learning to fly it, but it has always come out on top.
My only recommendation is to be patient when flying it, and watch the training videos on ARDrones site.
