The pluses of this outweigh the minuses so far. It is very very stretchy and I am around 200lbs but I need to put the hammock on the rings on both ends just to keep my bottom off the ground. That process in itself is extremely difficult for one person, especially if you have the stand with wheels. Everytime you get enough tension to hook it, the stand slides! This was primarily for my husband to relax in after a hard day, but we sometimes don't bother because it's a pain to take down/set up every time. We don't dare leave it out in the elements due to the fear of having it mildew/wear out on us. It's comfortable, and wonderful to relax in once it's set up.

I was given this hammock, with the metal stand and pillow/pad set and put it together outside. There's been rain off & on all week - and after being outside for just ONE week - the hammock rope has mildew growing all over it. It seems you can't leave this outside if it's going to rain (which is a pain, especially when trying to stretch it between the hooks on the stand). This really should be made from something other than cotton rope so it would last longer.

I've been wanting a hammock for a very long time. Finally, I bought one for myself. I rec'd it just before Mother's Day. I woke up Sunday to find my 14 yr old daughter putting it together! That was a great present. We got into the hammock together with the two dogs and enjoyed the rest of the beautiful,sunny day.

We purchased this hammock originally in 2001 with the pad, canopy etc. The rope part finally wore out partially due to an errant sprinkler underneath. We loved the hammock so we ordered a replacement of just the rope part of the hammock and fixed the sprinkler so it no longer gets the hammock damp. I'm sure we will have many years of enjoyment with the replacement.

We have owned this hammock for over 20 years. After recently moving we set up the patio and among the items included is our Brookstone hammock. The wood shows its age and the rope is no longer bright white but it's still a wonderful addition to our patio. I remember rocking grand babies to sleep in this hammock. Those babies are now 22 and 24 years old. The next generation is now enjoying it. Cannot say enough great things about our hammock. Years of wear left!!

My husband likes to spend some down time reading in the hammock. He likes that it is oversized because he is a taller person with broad shoulders. We opted for the straps to hang it on trees, getting it setup was a bit frustrating because the hammock and the straps seemed to have an initial stretch to them. We had to find trees further apart and put the straps up higher than suggested. FYI - It has only been in use for a couple weeks.

Thought the hammock was too stretchy. Looked over at my eleven year old, who is not heavy, and his rear end was staying in the hammock by one rope. Would not buy again...in fact looking for replacement.
